Hi all,

I am new to this forum and indeed the absolute joy that comes from being an RS6 owner.

A couple of months ago I bought a 2003 RS6 avant and have been spending some time making it as perfect as I can afford. I have recently replaced the cambelt and given it an oil service. I did however make the mistake of taking it for a "health check" at Listers, Worcester where they told me I need to spend a small fortune on bits. To be honest I think it was a big sales pitch as they suggested I needed new wiper blades which have just been replaced along with drive shaft boots which they told me only came as part of the whole drive shaft assembly!

Recently the brake warning light has come up on the dash (I knew it needed new pads and discs all round when I bought it). I didn't however realise how much the discs cost! I have been quoted £250ish each corner. Is this right?! Can they only be bought from Audi at bend over and prepare to take it up the shitter prices or are there non genuine parts available and if there are do I want to fit them?

I'd really appreciate any pointers anyone has to offer.

Tom

Tom,

Welcome to the .... (queue MaxRS6 shortly)!!!

Looks like you might be from UK due to the Pounds reference and the LOVELY avant statement. If you could update your location, that could help you and others connect.
Have you contacted Grizz @ Unit20?

Oh, and photos or it didn't happen...

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I'm from England- Worcestershire.

I'm loving the car and will try to get a Pic or two up soon.

Any help you can send my way would be gratefully received.

Btw whereabouts in the world are you?

I know it's a long drive up to the Liverpool/Cheshire area from you but you might call Marting @ Unit 20 and even if you don't head up there he might have some sugestions for you.

OK so to pile on here my beast is in the shop after my track day last week at Sebring and the brakes are getting done. Here is the damage and I need some advice. I know I have to do rotors, pads, and fluids do I need to do the braided lines? Also does $382 for fluid seem high? What is the ABS flush and reset they are talking about? Love the beast I guess I have to love the cost :)

Front Rotors(+labor) $1004 Pads Hawk HPS - $298 = $1302+tax
Rear Rotors(+labor) $1058 Pads Hawk HPS 115 = 1173 + tax
Steel Braided Lines - $295 parts - $239 labo r= $534 + tax
Fluid (flush ABS extra time?) - Endless brake fluid : $382+ tax
Total of $3391 + tax

In short, yes....you are paying too much.
All 4 rotors from genuine cost around 1100.
hawk pads all around should be around 300.
lines are 130
and the brake fluid, about a fifth of that.

what shop is this again?

Hello, I have registered to ask you about those alcon brake discs (http://www.jdl-brakes.com/) - anyone had any experiences with them? They're advertising as "high-quality brakes for use in motosport and performance road cars" and I want to put them into my Audi. Worth it? I would also apprecieate if you could post some other brands that I might be interested in, thanks!

What are you looking to do with the car.. occasional track day? Racing? Street performance bling?
