Hi All,

Judas (RS6 + LS1) got it's first track outing yesterday so I have a few video's for you.

Overall the car behaved well, temps were rock solid although I need to add an oil cooler which has been on the list for a while.

The brakes were stock pads and they lasted about as long as anticipated i.e. under 2 laps LOL, they overheated bringing this 4000lb monster down from warp speed. Track pads and ducts REQUIRED before the next event.

The tires were also expected to be overwhelmed as they are 255 all season's, they were fun but not very good at holding the car in place so corner speeds were relatively low.

So, bigger rims with big track rubber, track pads and ducts before the NEQ event at NJMP in a few weeks.

Heres the videos:

1: GoPro on the sunroof, waterproof case by mistake so wind noise sucks.
2: Harrys lap timer Pro on my Iphone 4, data got corrupted somehow so no overlay of track or ECU data sorry. Taking it easy as I had my friends mother in the car for her first ever time on a racetrack (plus I had no brakes)
3: Smoking brakes

Cool stuff !

I hate Miatas...I wish you bummed that junk into the wall. Was that Tom Mullane that kept getting in your way? (one of the NEQs instructors)

Great vids. Glad things are working out on this project.

Brakes on this car are critical. Hawk or ferrodo are good track pads. There are other as well I'm sure. You should try to see if you can still get in the group buy on the phaeton ducts. It will make a huge difference. The cracking is normal. With the semi floating style of these rotors anyways.

LOL, this was with www.comscc.com which is a time trial club so lots of fast cars and drivers. I was mostly getting out of the way of the Miati as they could cary way more corner speed than me at half my weight and lack of rubber and track pads. Tom didint make it to this event, but I look forward to chasing him about at NJMP with NEQ in a few weeks. My lap times were 1:23-1:27 on all seasons and no brakes, the Miatas were running 1:17 to 1:25. With descent rubber and some brakes I think I cold hang with them.

Thx, glad you liked the videos. Sorry the sound is crap, and also bummed that I lost the data on the 'Harry's Lap Timer Pro' app as the overlaid video is cool with the track map and ecu data.

I am a bit of a Hawk fan so ill probably order a set of DTC70 track pads for the front. Anyone know if performance rear pads are available from anyone?

The project is coming together, I have about 3K miles on it now and am ironing out the bugs slowly with more testing.

It made 330whp, 320lb tq on the AWD dyno recently, so less peak numbers than a stock RS6 but better area under the curve. I am hoping someone brings an RS6 to NEQ NJMP in a few weeks so we can run laps and compare.

Here is an outdated plot, the numbers are a bit better now than in this plot.

EDIT: I looked it up. jesus christ almighty. 01E, quattro, and a Corvette engine. Were I in your shoes, with your talent and budget, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to slap a twin-screw supercharger on top of that engine. 700-800bhp and wrenching amounts of torque is something I'd like to have. If one is going all out, go all out! :D

Getting silly numbers out of an LS1 is a whole lot easier than squeezing over 550bhp out of our Cosworth lumps, and there are so many different ways of doing it. This fact alone makes this project all the more interesting and has now caught my rapt attention!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it :)

Yeah making power from an LS is super easy compared to the Cossie motor and I consider this to be phase 1 - proof of principle. The next step will be a pair of rear mount turbos in place of the rear mufflers which should put me at about 500WHP. From there I will build an LS3 and drop it in, NA that should be over 550whp and with the turbos 800+

Making the LS fit was a PITB but it is possible, I think a better swap would be into an S8. S8+LS3+TT would be a mega DD IMHO. If anyone has the funds and wants one LMK as I am itching to do it.

Stay tuned....

Well, its been a long time coming but I finally have some updates on Judas :)

I had an issue at NJMP towards the end of the track season, the Audi fuel pump partially failed while on track and leaned the motor out and caused some damage:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZAjca7Xegw

I took a break from client work (partly) over Christmas and spent some time on my own stuff, namely Judas.

So here's a bit of an update for you all.

I wrapped up the short block a little while back and have been waiting for an opportunity to finish up the motor. The motor is now more or less complete and ready to get mated to the mockup trans so I can finalize the clutch slave, then I will put the real trans on and get it back in the car.

Good stuff below:

Note: The photo's that are good I can't take credit for, thanks to Kevin for shooting these.

Another note: If anyone in New England needs a kick ass engine shop give Randal a call at Precision Balance & Machine.
(603) 889-6211, 5 Industrial Dr, Hudson, NH 03051 Most of the tuner shops in this area that know their stuff use Randal
