I was just about to post a link to this, but you beat me to it.

The styling is spot on. The engine is just what we want. The performance figures should be sensational. The interior ergonomics will be perfect if the new A6 is anything to go by. And overall, this should comfortably eclipse a BMW M5 on a dry track, let alone a wet winter road.

All we need now is for Audi to price it right. Any guestimates on the cost?

It will just be a big RS4, design wise.
Next RS 3 will be the same i reckon.

Are you sure this is the real deal?

This must be the newly launched RS4, not the new RS6..

a bit disappointed on the power output, unless the new one weighs less than 4000lbs. For what the car will likely cost, I really believe it's going to have to make 600bhp. The difference between 580 and 600 is as near as next to nothing, but psychologically it makes all the difference in the world. Most of these buyers do their performance driving on paper than somewhere where these performance limits can be put to the test.

For example: "hmm, M5, 560bhp, or the RS6 for $20,000 more, for just 20 more horsepower?"
Versus: "M5 makes 560, but the RS6 is a SIX HUNDRED horsepower monster!! Totally different league!"

if we're going to do a guessing pool, I'll say base price between $105-110K, unless they come fully optioned only, in which case it'll probably push $120K?

I like the fender flares; they remind me of my old 150bhp 1986 ur-quattro. But I have to admit, I like the round C5 flares a LOT more!

It's a lot like top speed claims. Even if you go to Nevada to run flat out, it's really not that exciting. In several cars, I've hit or gotten close to 200mph. From 160-200, it's always this painfully slow crawl. I've since decided such speeds are for bikes only - on my S1000RR the insane rocket acceleration only lets up around 170mph, and it still pulls smartly to its 193mph top speed...provided you keep your helmet well tucked in under the windshield!

If I wer an automaker, I'd undergear the performance models for maximum acceleration. This was a mod I never got around to with my Skyline. In this video, the car is a lot quicker than other 600bhp Skylines, and the trick eventually came out: higher ratio differentials front and rear: http://youtu.be/au2v9TNnqHc

Not a fan of that body style. Looks like a station wagon. Just needs wood panels on the outside.

RS4 not RS6!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well spotted. Very likeable nevertheless. The RS4 is best in neutral colours.

I don't know...it's not that special looking, visually it leaves me wanting more

...but then again, it must be a 'Q' ship because the engine output sounds pretty hefty.

is the C5 the last RS6 that can (more or less) handle? is the future of the RS6 doomed to straight line performance and ultimate autobahn comfort? I hope not.

Very odd how the new German performance cars have downsized to turbo V8s, but are packing on even more lard.

In 1986, the top of the line Audi sedan was the 5000CS Turbo Quattro. It weighed 3200lbs. Better technology ought to permit lighter cars with the same safety and structural integrity - do engineers simply not care anymore about weight??
