View Full Version : Phaeton brakes... Are they bigger than our brakes?

I though I read somewhere that the Phaeton has bigger brakes than our cars, and with a caliper bracket and rotors it might be a direct swap. Any truth to this? Does someone sell a kit?

The Euro Phaeton has brakes the same size as ours (actually 1mm smaller in dia.) and also a two piece rotor design (not perforated), the N. American market Phaeton has smaller brakes.

Are there any bolt on upgrades for our brakes? Other than the ducts.

You can do the c6 big brake kit. Pretty much consists of c6 rs6 discs (bigger) as well as a spacer for the caliper, with new bolts of course. You need 19" or bigger wheels though.

TBH, our brakes are pretty badass. I mean, name 3 other cars that come with 8 piston calipers.

The stock RS6 brakes are plenty fine and better than most stuff out there.
The only reason I upgraded was to give my car some color, as the gray was looking too monotone.

seriously! It was honestly a selling point of the RS6 over the M5 for me. A lot of things had to add up (sick power, mammoth monobloc calipers, clever engine design, AWD) to get me to give up manual shifting and a clutch.

UK rs246 forum members claim that standard RS6 brakes with carbotech xp10 pads are equivalent to the big brake c6 kit in stopping power.

A long thread, but see http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=96228&hilit=carbotech&start=45
