Okay folks,

I am trying to get back in the fold after last summers hurricane debacle with my beloved RS6....

Now I am trying to decide.

50K miles RS6 bone stock, platinum warranty or 2008 S6 20K miles, original owner will be CPO'd by Audi dealer.

My heart says RS6, my head says S6.

Please help me....

Stephen

You only live once!.... Listen to your heart.

I've never, ever warmed to the 2008 S6 body... Although an enthusiasts car, it isn't as rare or iconic as the RS6.... What the hell d'ya expect from this board?!?!?!? hehe.

V8TT vs V10. Turbo power FTW. /thread ;)

I went through the same decision and picked the RS6 for several reasons. The RS6 is more rare (which I like), it's at least a couple hundred lbs lighter(!), it has a little more power, I like the more classic looks better, it responds better to mods/chips, and it seemed to get a little better gas mileage (which I try to not even look at ;). That and the C6 S6 has very similar performance to a tuned C6 A6 3.0T. So for me it was a no brainer!

It would take a very special car to convince me to drive something without a turbo (or TWO!) or a supercharger. I vote RS6!

Haha, you're asking the wrong board. /biturbo

That's the same decision tree I faced. Drove them several times back to back. I liked the power and ride of the RS better than the S6v10. After 5 years with the rs, I'm happy with my decision.

I would lean towards the RS6 for the reasons already mentioned (rarity, turbos, RS > S, etc.) but there is something to be said for the sound of a V10 with a nice exhaust. I think if I were you I'd go for variety and try the one I hadn't owned yet.

Yea.. I would say the ONLY benefits of S6 are newer, MAYBE more reliable and capability of awesome loud exhaust note.

I would take the S6 over the RS6. Way less maintenance, way better trans, V10 sounds awesome.

Ouch. Major ouch since this is where I was going to be sending my transmission to in xxxx months.

The only thing missing here is the cost differential. Is the S6 free? If it is, I'd probably go for it.

..and would be very close to a C6 RS6 V10 TT, but not quite.

Thanks guys. The cost difference is 15K. The RS6's warranty is about 8months longer than the S6. Anyone willing to sell me any of my parts back? The awesome paddle shifters would be my first request.

The 5HP24 is a good trans, but the 6HP26 is out since '02 and I haven't seen one broken yet.

I wouldn't pass on a good RS6 for the V10. You get all of that weight and no more power. Even Audi has gone back to a Turbo V8. Wouldn't that be something to drop the new S8 motor with the tranny of course into a RS6, plumbing it would be a pain though.

Can they be mated to the 4.2tt? I think you might have addresses this once before. Can't remember.
