I am a current B7 S4 owner and a previous B5 S4 owner. So old to Audi's, yet studying up on the RS6's to see what makes them different. So far seems to be the DRC and trans/converter problems. I have read many recommendations from you all to get a warranty or find a car with one. I think I have done that.

I have one question about standard equipment. I have seen the Sound Enhancing exhaust mentioned quite a lot. What is the difference between this and a "standard option" exhaust. Also, are the black tips the indicator of this option?

Thanks!

Alex

BTW here are some pictures of it. 63K miles but has a 2 year warranty until about 85K. 19" 275/30/19 VMR wheels. Looks like the owner smoked the tail and side markers. The only problem i see with it is that there is some wear on the console buttons (understandable) and the carbon fiber above the glove box has several cracks in it like it was hit (odd).

The carbon fiber splitting above the globe box is very common and expensive little buggar to replace. Love the color combo...

and year...black tips = sound enhancing exhaust.

Excellent. Thanks! I have a feeling that the carbon fiber might just be better redone than anything. For example, oCarbon for 600 or so.

I looked underneath and the actual mufflers are black too. I assume that its beyond the tips. I cant imagine the owner painted them. He did smoke other things.

They are asking 28K. Its a bit high so I am hoping they will work with me.

Mine will be for sale in a month or two.

Where are you located?

You won't have to worry about a transmission issue with it, though.

Clutch might be another story. . .

I am in the bay area, CA.

Can you elaborate on what you mean?

SteveKen did a 6-speed manual conversion, so that's what he means by the remark about the transmission and the clutch!

I like the car you're looking at, BTW. Same color combo as mine, with some pretty sweet wheels to boot. SE exhaust always has the black tips instead of chrome tips. It's the one factory option I really wish I had! And don't get the other forum members started about the wear on the control buttons -- Audi seems to have pulled out all the stops on this car, and then they totally cheaped out on the button decals! You should see mine -- they all look like blobs.

Good luck with the shopping!

SteveKen, why the sale? Burned out a few clutches? Thought you were just getting that beast dialed in. +1 for the SE exhaust, bit more sound...

6 speed conversion? Now I am intrigued and could be convinced to wait!

Yes. 6 speed conversion. I'm sure the car isn't as clean as many woudl like it to be, but it could be with some work. The price will probably reflect it though as I'm not looking to make any money out of it.

Just kidding about the clutch. It's been very good to me, but got a bit noisy after about 2k miles. (only when it's sub 1k RPM, though)

I don't want to part with it until I get the ABS and traction control sorted out. (and back from Carlisle)

As for exhaust, I've got the super sound enhanced exhaust, which consists of nothing but tubing from the downpipes back to the tips.

I wan tot focus on a cafe racer I want to make out of a 77 CB750F2 now. I've still got another RS6 motor that I'm trying to sell, but it could get pushed at a project if I find something to put it in.
