At least you can get it - WA is such a nanny state. It would cost me $20 in gas to go somewhere I could find it, and the PPG would be waaaaay higher than that.

$5.39/gal? Geesh. I wish. I pay $1.30-$1.40/l for 91 and $1.45/L for 94 (for those US fold whose math isn't up to speed on metric, that's 3.79L/gal or $5.30/gal for 91 and $5.50/gal for 94). There is no where around here selling 100 and hasn't been for decades.

About 1.85 euro per liter of 98 in Holland.
A little less for the normal 95.

What 130 octane in Utah looks like for $1.49/gal. Now to get the Beast to eat it.

There is a place in Point Pleasant on Rt 35N, a Raceway on Rt516 just west of Rt9 and you can also go to E-town as they have pumps. Mike can also get us 55gal drums of whatever VP Fuel we want.

Natural gas (CNG) is $1.49 per GGE (gas gallon equivalent) in Utah. Octane of 130. My 1998 F-150 uses it, if I could get the RS to use it, best combination going...ever.

Cooool. No CNG stations here. Can you fill up at home?

Actually one or two in Minne (from Center Point) but not enough to be practical. Several in UT and one at work makes it easy and cheap. Can use a Phill or FM-4 to fill up from home. We went through 10-12 CNG trucks and Vic's. Love them when gas is above $4/gallon and you put on lots of miles.

at least there is one thing i really like about Middle East, the fuel price, even though in Abu Dhabi and whole UAE is the highest one compared with the other arab countries, still is a good one compared to the one back home in Europe, the best fuel is 98, no way you can find 100 and even the 98 i guess it's more like a 95 in Europe, so 1L of 98 is 50c, my friends back home hate me :), but i guess the car would really fly on the Autobahn with Shell V-power, i wish i could take it back home at least for a couple of months to really enjoy it....:)

I have a photo from three weeks ago of premium 91 octane from a Coronado gas station @ $5.09/gl
Not sure that CA has any race 100 octane at the pumps except at race tracks...

Also, what would be the benefit if the RS6 didn't have a tune that could potentially handle the 100 octane?

A stock car probably isn't going to benefit from anything over 91~92 PON or 98 RON but a tuned car should benefit from more depending on the tune and whether the timing/boost is being pulled because of the knock sensors.

Careful there - you can NOT directly compare advertised octane ratings from the US and Europe.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

In Europe the advertised rating of 95 octane (RON) equals a US advertised rating of about 91 octane (RON+MON divided by 2).

CNG is very popular in Korea. relatively cheap (gas is about $9/gallon or thereabouts), but the problem is BTU/cc, plus a giant reinforced CNG tank in the trunk.

I'm more interested in E85 conversion. 103 octane (US measure), and although fuel economy drops, it's cheaper and the octane can't be beat. I ran my Skyline in Korea on at least 50% toluene (120+ RON), but you can't buy toluene that cheap here, plus the only people buying toluene in bulk privately are either running meth labs or trying to make TNT - hence, Homeland Security controls. Next best thing is E85 for off the shelf cheap race fuel. If ethanol doesn't seem racy enough, Indy Cars run on it, and I think NASCAR is/will switch to it as well....?

Ok. I gotta admit here. I once tried e85 with my RS6. I was almost empty, put 5 gallons in, and took off. Ran. Like. Shit. Not sure what happened. It may have been old and absorbed too much water?, don't know. Didn't throw any codes, but anything over half throttle, it was spitting and popping like a jonny 2 cylinder.

Of course, it has to. That is because 1 gallon of E85 has about 30% less energy than 1 gallon of regular gas. Stock fuel injection systems can not trim their settings by 30%, so you end up running lean for the whole time.
Only FFVs (flex fuel vehicles) can compensate all the way from E0 (regular gas) to E85 and everything in between.

E85...I could feed the world with corn or feed my car....hmmm, I love Jeff Gordon's slogan on his 24 car "Drive for hunger" running on E85. I'd love to feed you, but I'd rather drive fast (well not that fast, it is Jeff).
