HELP, stripped rear wheel stud!!

Was switching the winters out and while putting the rear passenger wheel back on I noticed one of the 5 wheel studs was stripped out. The stud bolt itself is fine, I think the plate behind the rotor is the thing that is stripped. What's the best way to fix this? Helicoil? New plate or whatever its called?

I hope I'm not the first person to do this....

It might be a new hub as I am not sure a heli-coil will hold torque at 90lbs...

Hub 4DO407615A $175 rom Genuine and the Bearing is 4D0407625E $90.77

As other member's have suggested, a hub and wheel bearing would be the ideal repair. The outer bearing race usually sticks to the hub when you remove it.

Might want to check into used, it might be the same as an A6. but I don't know. The CV joints in front I believe are the same...

I did have the car into the dealership for the fuel tank rollover valve recall. They ended up replacing the fuel tank. I would assume they removed the rear wheel when replacing the tank. If this is the case, I am sure that's when the hub got stripped. I sent an email to the dealership to see if this is the case.

Ugh...never trust a guy with an impact wrench....my daughter will do fine, but a dealer, better check the torque.

Jim, did carousel do it? Did they give a reason they replaced the whole tank?

It was Carousel, I think they said that the fitting was cracked already and just epoxying it would not help. They had to contact Audi and get an answer as to whether to replace the tank or not; that too a couple days. I was really happy with the service there but I just can't think of any other way this hub could have been stripped other than the dealership impacting the sh*t out of it.

So I am convinced to fix this hub, I see someone posted a part number of 4DO407615A but I cannot find this part on Genuine. I read from a sale on ebay that this part number has been superseded by 4D0407615F, is there any way to confirm this?

Yes 4D0407615F is the current part.

So I ordered and received the new rear hub and 82 mm wheel bearing. I tore into it today and found some of the parts going in are not the same as the parts coming out. Mainly the bearing. The hub looks to be pretty much the same. Keep in mind this car was a salvage rebuild so I have not idea what they actually rebuilt it with (at least it was cheap). I have attached the pictures of the parts, please let me know if these look like what an RS6 rear bear should look like.

Looks like an A6 flange mount bearing. How do I find the correct replacement part?

look up in ETKA and get the correct part# for the flange, also you can check the part# form the removed flange on genuineaudiparts.com and see what models does it fit!

Those are A6/S6 4.2 parts on your car. Pretty sure that is not the correct housing.

The RS6 uses a stronger version.

What is ETKA? I found a part number on the housing and it is from a 2000-2004 A6.
