Nothing revolutionary, but I like it!
I allways loved A3!

I like the looks too.

If you start comparing it to the Mercs or BMWs in the same series they don't stand a chance.

I think this looks very good - just the right amount of aggression at the front, overall balance and a clear evolutionary path from the previous version. What I most like is the interior. It seems like a real step-up for this class.

Very much looking forward to seeing the 5-door Sportback and S and RS models.

As always with all Audis - so nice with full package, S-line and LEDs. But mostly people are gonna drive the standard specs which is kinda bland and boring!

Always was & will be. It's the same with any other brand...sadly.

I like the new A3. I only have 2 complaints. I think the rear lights are very boring and I prefer the old ones for the 3dr. Interior looks good but centre console looks a bit plain. Other than that I like the new A3. Looks more classy than the A-class and 1 series. They look like chick cars.

I know. And that stupidity of placing RS wheels on regular models is beyond my intelligence.

What exactly are the RS wheels?

darkop
March 6th, 2012, 13:22
The same ones you've got on your RS5. You can find it everywhere now irrespective of model designation.

yeah...but that's how it goes ;)

if you want to produce stuff cheap you have to produce a high number of pieces...that's the reason why we see the rims on different cars...
I like them and don't see any problem with that...the RS wheels on the RS5 e.g. are 21" ... that anyway doesn't fit the A3

It's the same principle with all the other "luxury" stuff which we first see in the luxury class (A8, A6) and then spreads all over the other models (Full-LED-Headlights, Bang&Olufsen, Audi Drive Select, ...)

They're 19, fit the RS3 so you'll soon see them on an average A3 :)

sure they fit :)

I've also seen 21" on an average A3 ... but not without any modifications...

New A3 is excellent.

- Overall styling treatment: tick
- LED headlights, a first for this segment: tick
- New SatNav system with retractable screen: tick:
- new engine options: tick
- Interior ambiance and quality: tick

All in all: 10/10. But the $1,000,000 question is how will it compare to the new A-Class, which also seems good? I tend to think that Audi / VW's experience producing high quality hatchbacks is going to tip the scales in favour of Audi. I certainly won't be trading my RS3 in for a new A-Class... at least, not yet!!!!! maybe when the new AMG A25 makes an appearance, I will be tempted?

I read that the new A3 is 80kg lighter than the outgoing comparable model. That's a very good result!

Don't even start me lol. I love the fact BMW have M specific wheels and different M-sport wheels. However, with Audi we see RS wheels on stock/S-line/S/RS models; basically all models!

Do we have a source for that? That's really good news. I think maybe Audi are serious about lowering weight. Even the new A6 is lighter. I hope this happens with all new models.

Yes you are right it is lighter:

"compared to the previous model, the new A3 is now 80 kg (176.37 lb) lighter"
" A3 1.4 TFSI that weighs just 1,175 kg (2,590.43 lb)"

Interesting in the article:

Audi will incorporate active engine mounts into the platform, but only for use in the forthcoming—and likely Euro only—RS 3 model.
