After more than a year of sitting on the fence trying to decide wether to move from a 2001 A6 4.2L sport with over 240k miles to an RS6, I did.

First off, I would like to personally thank ben916 (http://www.rs6.com/member.php/2919-ben916) , V8weight (http://www.rs6.com/member.php/9448-V8weight) and i_am_Waz (http://www.rs6.com/member.php/5808-i_am_Waz) for their helpfull insights and information... The car I purchased once was owned by i_am_Waz (http://www.rs6.com/member.php/5808-i_am_Waz)... I think it was his second RS6. Appears very gently used and well cared for!

It is Arvus Silver/Black. With 55k miles, it is cosmetically absolutely flawless in and out... Drove it home to MN from out East yesterday. This is the best shifting RS6 of the 7 I've driven. TC was replaced by previous owner under warranty. Everything else is perfect except for........... The DRC seems shot. It's been replaced twice under warranty. And, since the car doesn't have a waranty, and the Audi DRC replacement campaign timed out in Oct '11, the 2bennet custom coil over route seems like a good modular option for the DIY'r.

A few questions, if you can take yet another newbe's inquirys:

1) The DRC seemed fine at an outside temp of 45F or warmer... When driving it home in 0 to -15F, it seemed bad (loose and clunky.) It's been in my heated garage overnight. DRC seemed much better this morning on the way to get it washed???? Is DRC noise temperature dependant? Hydraulic oil expanding volumetrically---increasing pressure?

2) There is a small switch attached to a black box under the armrest area, by the parking brake.... What is this for???

3) Why is there a oval-shaped hole inside the armrest storage area... Was this for a phone?

Thanks!

MaxRS6 has been busy this past week! The temperature may affect the seals in the system, but I am sure the hydraulic oil is fine. You may want to wash the underneath of the car - there must be some underspraying car washes in MN - then get the car on a lift and check for leaks. Not sure where, but perhaps someone will pipe in.

I am hoping my DRC lasts a couple of years at least, but it seems as if these systems are a timebomb. Fortunately, there are alternatives. 2B has been good to me in the past, first I have heard of an RS6 kit from them.

Good luck!

Congratulations!

Welcome to the world of audio paranoia! any little sound = $$,$$$
Just kidding!!! sheesshh!

2bennett - I haven't heard of any RS6 installed - you might be one of the first...

Anyway, I too am in the DRC hell at the moment.
I had Matt at Raven MS look under Selma's skirt and take her for a spirited drive to "Listen" and feel.

#1. I would agree with you but then I think that others from UK/DE/EU would have the same issues...
#2. possibly a laser/radar on/off switch...
#3. yes there was the option for a factory Audi car phone
