The other day while driving I hear this mysterious sound above my head. Turn's out my sunroof for some reason had tilted up for a few minutes and then lowered itself again???? The shade was closed and I hadn't operated the sunroof in a long time.

Has this occurred with anyone else? This has happened more than once for me?

Had it happen on a B6 A4, was the sunroof switch that was defective.

I've had that happen on both of my C4s too. That's a different sunroof control, but probably the same problem. The contacts get worn or dirty. You can disassemble it and clean the wiper, or get a new one.

Yep.. the switch is the culprit here..Another faulty part. I have had 2 of them replaced for the same reason. The first one was also faulty. The second is working fine

Is the replacement a do it yourself job or do I make my first warranty claim?
