Am I thinking of this in the right way? My idea is that the R8 is necessary for lamborghini and for other VAG sports cars to reduce development costs.

In addition to the news of porsche using the 2nd gen r8's platform for their new supercar, lambo also needs the mkII r8 for the nex gallardo to make development costs cheaper by sharing. Other VAG sports cars(bentley, I hope) will also help reduce the platform costs.

With all those in mind, the gallardo, r8 and porsche's next supercar are all necessary TOGETHER to reduce costs.

Also, in addition to improving audi's brand image and complementing their racing heritage, the r8 will
help in reducing development costs. Therefore, is it safe to assume the r8 will be a permanent model?
