I'm looking forward to seeing the new S6. I have 122,000 miles and will be ready to replace soon.

The S8 is out, too expensive for me. S5 cab still interests me after a few months with a 2008 A4 cab (kids fit in back and my wife loves driving it).

The A6 is nice, but 333 hp not enough to make that swap yet. I need at least 400 LOL....

Jee, I wonder it the new S6 with B&O system will play engine roar through the stereo like the new M5 (LMAO:love:). How lame is that?

I drove an A6 and an A7, very nice.

Any insider info on the mechanicals of the S6 vs S8 engine? Could the S6 be tweaked up to the 520 hp like the S8? I suspect the new RS6 would be the same tune as the S8 which would make sense.

I saw it at the LA Auto show and really liked it. Great lines, I think nicer looking overall than the S7. However, the S8 was noticeably more comfortable, especially in the rear. It all depends on my mix of cars, but I would definitely consider it for a semi-daily driver in the future. The mileage is WAY better than the RS6.

I'd love an S8, but too expensive. Did you see any pricing on the S6? Was the appearance significantly different than the A6 3.0 sc? Fenders etc?

Thanks,

Mike

I didn't catch the pricing. As anyone would suspect, thete is not a huge variation from A to S models. Some pics I took.

Not the car in question bro. And that's a 5.2L V10 inside.

I love the new A/S6. Looks so much better in real life...

I think it looks promising. I would really prefer a little more flare on the fenders. I don't need it to be flashy, but I would like to be a little set apart from the A series. Maybe for the RS?

It's amazing just how many different Audi cars are available in the rest of the world.....

That's why I avoid going to the UK site....

Interested, but in the avant!

for me, it has to be an RS to be of interest.

improved fuel economy with the 4 liter is definitely good, but it depends on your baseline. I'm spending the holidays in Korea, and driving my Skyline GT-R, which consumes $50 worth of premium fuel every SIXTY miles!

That's great gas milage. What's the Carbon Emission level of that beast?

Probably getting one next fall... but will keep the RS.

I once tried to estimate it, and came up with it equaling around 4200 normal cars. The engine is always running rich, and with no catalytic converters, standing behind the car is enough to have to smelling of fuel for a week. In Korea, underground parking is the rule, and they have CO sensors. On a whim, I backed the car up to one, and within a minute, it went from 0ppm to setting off an alarm...

That's too funny!

You got a NICE carbon footprint!

2003 RS6 Vs 2012 S6....sounds like the new S6 will match or beat the specs on the 03 RS6... We shall see...

It will be down on power (420 vs 450) but very close.. I will bet much better packaging.

Yes, on the spec, but the Transmission should be less of an issue with the new S6.
From the UK site, the S8 appears to be offered with an 8 speed auto, while the S6 with a 7 speed dual clutch auto. So as long as the transmission is no longer a weak link, tweaking the S6 to 500 hp should not be a risky venture. Thus putting the power well above the stock of the 2003 RS6 without making it a time bomb for a transmission replacement. That's why I left my RS6 stock from an engine standpoint as I did not want to risk the transmission.

Oh P.S., the RS6 with sound enhanced exhaust is also supposed to have 455 hp. LOL.....just saying...:)

Torque output..

Brav, YOU'RE Killing me!

So you think that the S6/S7 transmission will be the limiting item for upgrading the engine? That stinks! It was the biggest issue with the RS6 upgrades!
I was hoping that the basic S6 engine could be tweaked to the S8 level of output without killing the transmission....bummer....

It's hard to say for sure but easy to guess.. you could probably tune more peak horse power for sure. Would just be careful with the torque. Dual clutch have a ways to go still. MB makes great fast shifting auto transmissions. They handle tons of toque, so that's the best solution still for high output I guess

true. the auto on the S65 is seamless.. even with 902 lbs of tq at the crank
