View Full Version : What size nut are the fittings off the oil filter housing to the oil cooler?

I've got a small leak at one of these fittings.

To snug it up, I'm pretty sure it's going to require a crow's foot with everything in place.

I'm too lazy to get under the car and am wondering if anyone knows off hand.

I can get you an answer for that tomorrow night if your not in too much of a hurry. I can pull my car on the lift as I still haven't reinstalled the belly pan yet.

The lower driver side fitting ON the oil cooler is the same size IIRC. It appears to be a 27mm.

Excellent. Thanks folks.

Now I'm on the search for a 27mm Crowfoot. Not as easy as it seems.

I'll be calling the local tool supply house to see what the damage is. No sense buying a whole set for just the one.

Might be easier to find a 1-1/8 but it's a little too big. 1-1/16 is just a little too small.

I hope to get this buttoned up and then install the belly pan with the MTM mod and then basically put it away for winter.

FWIW, when I needed a similarly obscure crowfoot (maybe even 27 mm) to remove some AC fittings on my Ur-S4, I found the closest smaller inch size and ground it larger using a bench grinder. Not ideal but it worked. I got the inch size at Sears as I recall.

Thanks Kevin. I never thought of grinding one.

However, my local tool supply house has one in stock for $10.55.

Probably pick it up tonight.

Steve I had no problems loosening mine with the wrench at a bit of an angle as the bearing surface on the nut is pretty wide and it wasn't real tight. As a caution just do it when the car is all warmed up rather than cold.
