Since video record devices are now tailored to high speed sports for the consumer and relatively inexpensive, let's compare them:
1. Go Pro (there are so many flavors now, I can't keep track)
2. ContourHD
3. V.I.O (camera is separate from recording device connected via cable, SD card, 4 AA batteries)
For the record, I am borrowing a V.I.O. for the Audi Exclusive Event on Sunday Dec 11, 2011 in Laguna Hills.
I really want a Go Pro2 HD...
Pros/cons?

I have been using a Panasonic camcorder that I bought 3 years ago for $299. 40 GB internal hard drive and supports SD cards as well for ease of transfer. It isn't HD, but I don't make Tribeca films either. On the higher end, my Nikon D7000 makes some pretty nice HD video, but I only use that as a secondary function of the SLR camera.

For me who works with selling this kind of equipment. My choice would be the GoPro 2 or a Contour +. Both are really, really good.

GoPro is what I chose. I like the various options and their evolving products.

The below is a deal I stumbled upon on a Contour vid ($119 normally $199). However; short lived deal and only about 1 hour left..

well the V.I.O. unit is not able to connect via cable to the lens/camera...
Not sure if it is something I am doing/not doing properly... = fail
