We picked up the car on Friday Nov 4 after the 6 month repair odyssey. Packed the car up and off to Barber Motorsport we went for the track weekend. We took a leap of faith the car would run correct. We made it to Barber (about a 6 hour trip) Friday night.
Saturday morning driver meeting at 7:00. That left enough time to change the tires to the Hoosier track tires, and some final preps. The first session was driven relatively cautiously listening for any odd sounds. The car seemed to run good (for a 8 year old, 4 door, 150K miles, 2 ton plus size) so I was off to the races for the following sessions. However; long story short- after the second session I was inspecting the tires, and found an inside front tire was down to the steel core after two sessions (the Hoosier tire had lasted a grand total of 10 track sessions and this included "flipping" the tires before this weekend). I had to run the remaining sessions on the Hankook tires. To say the least- huge difference and some tire barking will be heard. Not my best driving. However; considering I haven't driven the thing in essentially 6 months, I was happy to return home without any off track adventures.
The Barber Motorsport Park complex is incredible with manicured everthing. It was a very fun weekend with a great mix of cars.
Red meat for the hounds- The following is one of the sessions with the camera on the front of the hood. I'll compile a video of some clips from the other sessions when I have the opportunity.
