wondering if anyone knows this car and any opinions on price/mileage. good shops close to eugene for a ppi?

First of all, this guy doesn't know much about rs6's apparently, as he says 1200 were imported. But more importantly than that it is a very good deal. Here are the red flags: Timing belt should be changed at 115,000 miles, only 3,000 miles away. I don't know about the water pump or intercoolers, so you should ask him if they have been done. Don't take his word for it though. Either get the service records or and independent inspector that knows about the car to look at it. But from what it sounds like, it is a good deal. Good luck!

weird. the price just went down $500 since I looked at it... don't worry I would definitely ask for service records and have a PPI done

just waiting on some more pics for now...

Hmm, looks a bit sketchy with the description, the note at the end about the design flaw and check engine light? That is a low starting price too. I could check it out later this week if you want. Have never seen the car around town myself. I could possibly get it scanned at the shop too.

yeah, I will let you know after he send some more pics. almost sounds like his english is just not that great from an email he sent. he is the second owner since new and has had the car since 55K miles and always maintained at Audi dealerships. says he has all receipts too... we'll see

Yea, seems a bit odd of a sale, but who knows. The only Audi dealership is in PDX, none in Eugene. I wonder if he moved to town recently. Let me know...

yeah, this was his response this morning:

"Thanks for the interest in my car. I have had zero issues with the transmission, the car has always ran like a dream, there has never been any major mechanical issue with the car. It has basically just been a work car, driven to and from work. I am the second owner of this car. I received the car around 55k miles and have been relatively zero issues with the car besides normal maintenance which has always been done at a certified Audi dealership. I also have a list of all the service work done to the car. The car also has a chip on it, and exhaust which boost the HP to 505, with the stock HP being 450. This is truly a great car, I have loved it. It is one of the smoothest rides I have had the pleasure of driving. The RS6 received a 5/5 stars on KBB, and has also been featured on Top Gear. I will get you some more pictures later today. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!"

he also noted he had it serviced once at Autohaus in Eugene... not sure if that "means" anything. the cool part is most of his service was done in my town in bend at the dealer. trying to procure the records now. noted that it needs new tires...

Good to hear it was taken to a local shop. Service records should tell the story. I'm surprised he is not asking $3-4k more though. Makes me wonder about TC, trans, timing belt, other codes.

this is pretty awesome too:

"The check engine light is on because of the chip, this was confirmed by Carrera Motors. Nothing is wrong with the engine, the chip just triggers a sensor, which turns the light on.
unfortunately I am not entirely sure what the chip name is or the exhaust"

Looks a bit rough in areas, but might be a good chance to get into an rs6 for a good price. I don't trust their line about the cel, would run for codes without a doubt!

bendjeff
November 7th, 2011, 23:34
yeah, think that would definitely be the only way I would make a purchase. with a nice PPI. is there anyone good there in town that would do it?

The guys that work on my car, Edge Motorsports...

bendjeff
November 8th, 2011, 00:01
ok, will keep that handy. have to see if the timing belt was done yet and said it needs new tires... not really looking to go into it with those things needing to be done

I've got a set of summer Nitto's that have about 10k on them, cheap if you end up needing them. Done with them as I just put Nokian's on the stock wheels, and will be getting 19's this spring.

Now that $2k timing belt job would be nice to have done. And who knows what else...

bendjeff
November 8th, 2011, 00:13
i would have to put winters on as well. what size did you end up putting on?

lswing
November 8th, 2011, 00:21
245/40/18 was the closest to stock for the Nokian's...

November 8th, 2011, 03:07

After reading the description and looking at the pictures, I'd skip this and move on. There are just too many small things that aren't right.

bendjeff
November 8th, 2011, 18:26
confirmed on the gut feeling:

"This is what the service was done at GMT (local shop). I guess i'm not sure if the timing belt was done on this Audi. But I'ts not ever had any issues mechanically or with the engine. So I don't know. But if you are not interested in this Audi, my Dad, Ben. Lives in Bend Oregon and his Audi RS6 is similar to mine (Minus Chip, and exhaust), same color actually except his has about 54k miles on it. He said he would be willing to sell his for 24k. His is in excellent condition. It has the valentine radar system built in, as well as a built in bluetooth"

lswing
November 8th, 2011, 18:31
I'm guessing he would know if it's been done since it costs about $2k. That combined with the check engine light, probably for TC or trans, sounds rough. Not too into the white/wood either, and beat up dash. Check out his dad's eh?

bendjeff
November 8th, 2011, 18:33
yep, going to ask about it. more than I want to spend but the mileage sounds really good. maybe it won't have that nasty white interior either ;)
