500hp and 600ft/lbs from a 3.0L diesel, sounds extremely highly tuned with unbelievable amounts of turbo lag. If its true and they manage to have no more than you expect from a 3.0L turbo diesel than I will concede that they are one of the greatest engine builders EVER.

^They already proved that in the early noughties in F1 IMHO.

Not exactly the same thing is it, an F1 doesn't need to meet the same emission regulations nor is it required to run thousands of miles between services never mind rebuilds. Point being all manufactures from Audi through to Toyota have a successful history of Motorsport.

True but if you can lap Monza at an average speed of 260+kph, who cares?

Yes it's very impressive until you consider averaging 239km/h for 24 hours like the Audi R18 did this year at Le Mans. :hihi:

Impressive but consider pulling 20,000rpm for 2 hours, as they were by '05, and producing ~1000hp from just 3.0 litres normally aspirated.

So Audi finally catch up to the 35D engine and then BMW move the game along, looking forward to driving this triple turbo Bimma.
