was thinking of offering 19 and say they ship it to me in OR

Seems very clean for the mileage. Interior looks great.

Use uship to estimate shipping cost. My gut says $1200 to ship coast-to-coast so you are asking for a 2200 discount. Seems right to me!

bendjeff

yeah, with that mileage I would definitely want a copy of the inspection as well. do you think the price point is fair? i drive my cars daily but very few miles and never on the weekends really. so the mileage is fine with me as long as the car has been maintained properly

Just my 2 cents, if the car is as advertised (i.e., one owner, clean history, and "dealer-serviced since day one"), the price point is definitely in the ballpark.

crap, of course there would be an accident on the carfax: http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=DLR_3&vin=WUAPV64B73N904999

is it just me or does that rear bumper look like a different color?

Yes, it looks that way...front one too if you look closely...probably both re-sprayed...I think Avus can be tricky to color match

Can't speak for this particular one, but with Avus cars, the bumpers often look like the color match is off in photographs, but looks correct in person.

This is very true, due to the metallic in the paint. Different panels at different angles with different amounts of light hitting them. You can see this really well if you park half in the shade and half in the sun. Looks like two different cars stuck together! That being said, if you look not only at the different angles, but different parts of the panel, you can see that close to the rear tire on the bumper looks right. You need someone to get eyes on it.

Correct me in I am wrong but in the listing it sayd "one owner".. But the carfax shows a second owner. You should clarify that and see since it was serviced there since day one if theyll give you service records minus the persons info. Many dealers will do that. Accident details are weird with damage in multiple places.. must mean car was painted in multiple places. was it vandalized or just neglected?

bendjeff
October 13th, 2011, 19:25
the issue is that there is a discrepancy with that report. the inspection showed no damage/paint work/accidents so they were surprised by that on the report as well. they are getting back to me about it today I think

RSSIK
October 13th, 2011, 19:44
Who inspected it to say there was no paintowrk or damage? Just curious not doubting you. They should have a paint meter that will tell them exactly if the car had paint work or not. The rest can be done by hand and eyes. Did you see the car in person?

bendjeff
October 13th, 2011, 19:49
no, I am all the way on the other side of the country... i think that is what their inspection showed but they are looking into it today

As a rule, to be safe, never believe anything any car dealer, new or used, tells you.

My apologies to the truthful and upstanding folks who work in auto retailing. All two dozen of you.

bendjeff

haha, so true... that's why this would be a tough purchase without seeing the car and having my mechanic look at it

HEY HEY HEY.. Thats not nice fellas.. I take offense to that. I understand you may have had a bad experience or two but no matter what theres gotta be more than two dozen of us that are true and upstanding people.. Ive personally dealt with many other dealers and Ive been disgusted on how they run their businesses compared to me but ive also been shocked with others and how well they are with their customers and businesses. I think no matter what there are plenty of business people out there in general that have shady people in them no matter what business they may be in.

don't worry. I know there are honest dealers out there still. my last S4 was bought sight unseen from Rusnak and I could not have been happier with the people I dealt with

bendjeff
October 17th, 2011, 16:10
finally got an update from the dealer:

"Just an update on the RS6...We've been trying to reach the person who
traded it for clarification, since that incident was not on the CarFax
when we purchased it. Our Pre-owned Sales Manager, Drew Gleason, used
his paint meter on all panels and found them to be between 4 to 5 mils
with one area on the left rear panel by the rear bumper being 5.5 -- all
fall within Audi standards. If anything, a bumper may have been
repaired. "

bendjeff

i think i could get them to 19K shipped. what do you guys think? the carfax just scares me a bit. there is a guy on audizine that actually works there that said it is extremely clean

ttboost
October 18th, 2011, 18:45
Lot of car for $19k, but just be prepared for a finicky high maintenance vehicle...

bendjeff
October 18th, 2011, 18:50
yeah, that is why I am on the fence. I drive so little that I think I could pull it off and not spend an arm and a leg on maintenance...

ttboost
October 18th, 2011, 18:53
If it is only a toy, and you don't have to rely on it, AND you are handy and can do at least SOME things yourself, I say go for it...

bendjeff
October 18th, 2011, 18:56
handy is definitely not the word I would apply to myself when it comes to German machinery... haha. I do have an amazing local indy shop though that has worked on my past Audi's. yeah, this car is definitely not something I have to rely on daily. not a third car but still not something that has to be running no matter what

bendjeff
October 18th, 2011, 19:20
from my mechanic:

"Be aware, the RS6's are on an expensive 40K service interval on top of mileage related repairs- We'd Love Ya!! That should get the point across..."

ttboost
October 18th, 2011, 20:07
Well make sure it has had the timing belt done at 35k & 75k miles and it is likely due again pretty soon, if not already done...maybe negotiate that too?

bendjeff
October 18th, 2011, 20:13
this is part of the 40k interval services?

lswing
October 18th, 2011, 20:32
The 40k service is the $40k worth of service the car might need....kidding, sort of....I bought mine in pretty good shape, I thought, but dropped $1k in each of the first two months on old and damaged parts, going back in for another look at a coolant leak this week. Spend more up front if you can, might help. Spendy buy awesome...as you know...

bendjeff
October 18th, 2011, 20:35
yeah, if my math is right the timing belt should be done again at 115K miles. going to find out about that. time/parts to do the timing belt service? would have my indy shop do it

ttboost
October 18th, 2011, 20:36
Yep... a lot of expensive little parts makes these cars tick...and none of them are easy to get to...short of a few bolt-ons, engine has to come out for most major maintenance, although many have found shortcuts. Dealers and most indys will not charge you "short cut' prices, even though they may know them.

Sorry Jeff? I know it's exciting, but honestly look harder, there are always examples available. I have bought cars sight on seen, as is the case with duck wing rs6. But given mileage and an accident report, unless u could get it for less I would move on. Who knows what lies under the paint job.

I also feel I did decent (after confirmation by a good local shop) but had I waited less than 2 months there were at least 3-4 examples that I would have jumped on sight unseen... Pats being one of them.

I have an 04 S4 blk/blk 6 speed on my lot. not sure exactly what your looking for but its very clean and doesnt need anything from what I see. It has 92k miles. Im almost positive the t/b and w/p were done but i will verify that asap.

I also have an 2003 S6 avant ming blue, 01 s4 avant auto silver, and a few other Audi's.. The S4 avant is amazing how clean it is. But again Im not sure what your looking for. The S6 is nice but not a perfect example just bc of cosmetic imperfections.
