as mentioned in another thread, a on again/off again coolant leak was found in the coolant circuit that runs after the car shuts down. There's coolant residue on the driver's side intercooler pipe. It's not leaking much, but it's something that should be taken care of. This was the VAGCOM readout when I bought my car a month ago:

So is this "plastic valve" (as described to me), the coolant control module? And should I worry about the fan? During the scorching hot end of August, I had no overheating issues at all, with the A/C on full blast of course, doing about 2000 miles of driving during that time.

J671 is the control module for the smaller cooling fan, not the coolant valve. The larger cooling fan module is built into the fan. I believe J671 is bolted the drivers side frame rail behind the radiator.

J671= 4B0959501E $211.30

The coolant valve is 4B3121411 $222.46 (I also had this replaced due to a leak).

There was this thread that indicated it might be the coolant temp sensor
http://www.rs6.com/showthread.php/22921-ok-what-did-they-do...

I too am getting this code.

I'm going to try to replace that G62 temp sensor and see if that clears the code. Maybe the bad sensor is causing the diagnostics to think the control module is bad. This is why I don't trust these here fancy electronics!! :P

I'm looking at this valve, and the leak is extremely slow. I'm wondering if I just paint this with silicone gasket if that'll hold the leak?? Ghetto-style auto repair!!

Do you have the part number for the G62 sensor? I might try to replace mine as well.
