Friends,

The Sportec intercooler setup has arrived, and I will be doing the work this weekend. Once the work is done, I'll make sure to post a write up on the site. Here are some pix of the parts.
I did not order the oil cooler, nor the transmission cooler. I did not want to deal with that at this time, but folks at Sportec assured me I could always order those later if I wanted.

I also went to the dealer and ordered a new belly pan for the RS6. I will be doing the surgery on that as well. The one currently on the car that came from factory has a few cracks, so I figured it was worth a new piece of plastic under there. No pix of this piece at this time. I am sure you know what it looks like. It will all be in the write up, including part numbers.

Just a little Sportec porn for you.

Unfortunatly they are in black, so you cant really see any leaks in the future...:)

Looks great!

Any chance you sell the beat up old belly pan? Local too! Mine is mysteriously gone and I want one prior to winter

Nice purchase, nene. I look forward to your write-up and pictures. I know I will eventually have to do something about the intercoolers on my RS6, so I will follow this thread closely.

It is not the first DIY that I've done on the RS6. Here is a short list:
1. RS6+ pedals
2. Full Euro RS6 interior
3. Headlights (i. clear corners; ii. Euro headlights) with bumper in place, and with bumper removed
4. RNS-E with usage of stock navigation antenna
5. Fully integraded radar detector
6. Hotchkis anti-sway bars

I did not install the Mo'vit brakes. Those I had the dealer do the work.
Very likely I won't do the timing belt myself either.

I feel I can tackle the intercoolers no problem. Not first time I've had the bumper off.
Let me get my beast done first and do the write up. We can tackle your beast anytime after that if you really want to. We can do ICs and clear corners in one shot.

Price for the Sportec kit minus oil+transmission cooler: around 5000 Swiss Francs.
If you are interested in the Sportec kit, I can give you Alain's e-mail address. The construction appears to be top notch. Everything for this car is so expensive.

I mod the car slowly as to enjoy it as much as I can. With my 2000 S4 I got mod fatigue, and never felt I truly enjoyed the car as much as I should.
I am pacing myself with the RS6.

Nice hardware. Those shrouds are the business... it's a shame they'll be hidden away.

Nene, give me a call(7572756757) or pm me, so we can talk about your schedule for the next dyno day in november/december...

Nene, give me a call(7572756757)

most made-up looking phone number ever.

Yup, it's one of those rejection hotline numbers...:lovl:

But seriously, there will be another dyno day in November/december before I head out to afghanistan. Same bat time, same bat channel. Thread will be up in a week or so.

Update:
After two grueling days the beast is back together again. Taking pictures and taking care of the dog at the same time can slow you down considerably. Not to mentioned the "SURPRISES"!!!
Thanks to my nephew, my trusted mod helper of everything done to the RS6, we were able to finish the project.

Surprises:
1. The inverted L-shaped bracket that holds the stock intercooler and alternate cooler in place are actually attached to the frame with rivets. Had to drill those, drill wider holes to get some screws across. New rivets that came with Sportec system would not hold up.
2. The carbon fiber shrouds had to be trimmed a little with dremmel tool around the front, otherwise the bumper would not go back in place.
3. The alternate coolers had to be tied down by other funky means, as there was nothing in the Sportec system to hold them. You just can't leave those things dangling.
4. You must invest in safety glasses. Better yet, buy a hockey helmet with the safety glass in the front. Between the dirt coming down or tools falling off your hands, it gets dangerous.

Fitting the units in place can be tricky. Passenger intercooler is more difficult to get it fitted. Driver's side is more difficult to get the bumper back in place. The lower outer edge of the intercooler rides right into the bumper. Good thing the first important piece I did was go to the dealer to buy a bunch of new bolts and nuts among other things.

I apologize to Aronis (Mike), but I will never do this mod on another car. It is painful on your back, legs, and fingers.
Got lots of shots and will start the write up this week.

For folks planning to do other intercooler projects, or Sportec for that matter, if they don't fit over the stock hardware, you are in for darn tough project.

Nice nene.....I know when my(braver the me) wagners were put in, the CF shrouds had to be cut a little as well. Btw, I just eliminated the secondary rads, ran bang in middle of gauge all summer, hot, traffic, no difference. We ended up connecting the lines to each other an zip tying them out of the way.

Glad to hear its done! I'm guessing it would be a lot easier with your writeup, pics, advice and with a lift

Come on Nene, you don't mean that, a fellow Bostonian looking for a little help!

LOL

The Audi Mechanic who works on my car here at the dealership also has his own private garage....so the Intercooler Project may just get done there :)...he's rebuidling a P-car currently and his one bay is full LOL...

Back at the Audi dealer garage he's fixing a few things..soaked and fried TCU due to poorly installed windshield and rain, leaking front differential seals, finding my stock intercooler leak and fixing that....oh well...120,000 miles..
