Likely that the ABS control module is done (from doin' a bit of research).. Is there another possibility? If it's the module, is this another one of those RS-6 specific part? or will an ABS module from an A6 suffice? I gather there is a price difference between the two. Any part number will help. :vhmmm:

If you figure out it is the module for sure try these guys as a OEM new module is well over $1000. http://www.modulemaster.com/en/services/index.php Our is the same as the later A6 with the Bosch 5.7 ABS, not the 5.3 ABS. The ABS controller part # if you want it is 4B0614517AC (javascript:;)

I'd be willing to part with my spare ABS controller if you are interested.

Although the module masters route is the most economical one to take, provided it will fix the problem. $150 or so?

I think that these things are affected by heat, as I've seen that BMW houses their ABS controller assemblies in separate compartments.

Mine failed at 39k. $1600 R&R at the dealership. If I didn't have a warranty, I for sure would've gone the module masters route.

Yeah, glad you figured it out. I had a bunch of codes and just did the faulty brake light switch thing too and it fixed me for about a month. Now I have about 4 more codes and it feels like it's in "half" limp mode...don't have time to to f*ck with it now...gotta finish building my garage...stupid car....

as I mentioned in another thread, when these lights start to go on intermittently, its the first signs of the brake switch failing..

Sorry slightly confused, can someone please confirm the correct part # & best source for the brake light switch? Thanks!
