I think it looks great, much better than the new 1 series BUT it's so similar to the A5/A6!

Looks promising. But i wish there will be a two-door coupé as well besides the 3 door.

i'd take an S3 sedan with DSG, 270 hp at 40K USD as a daily driver. B5 S4 all over again.

Yes, reports cite that it will have a 4-cylinder engine developing 280 bhp.

I think this is disinformation. Audi wants us to know that a new S3 is coming so that we don't all go off and buy a Mercedes-Benz A-Class AMG. But it doesn't want to piss-off RS3 buyers by announcing that the S3 will get the 2.5 litre 5-cylinder motor and cost less.

The question is what power output will the S3 get? I think 280-300 bhp sounds about right.

I will put my money on a 2.5TFSI for the new S3 with 308 hp. ;)

What are the chances of a de-tuned 5 pot S3 for next year? Also does anyone know if the sedan will be made liek the concept showed?
I will be in mkt next year and cannot get my hands on an RS3 and have been on waiting list since April. If the TTRS were cheap i recon that would be a nice bet

I would have thought it was highly likely that the next S3 will get a 300 bhp version of the 2.5-litre TFSI with five cylinders. Another school of thought seems to think that a development of the current 2.0-litre TFSI four cylinder engine, the EA888, from the current A3, and also developing 300 bhp will be used instead.

Either way the next S3 will be a stunning car. If Audi thinks that current RS3 owners will be pissed-off if they put the 5-pot in the S3, they are mistaken. Getting a five-pot S3 in three years time would be a logical move for most RS3 owners. Personally, I'd like it to have 407 bhp not 300 bhp. The final choice will probably depend on Audi's internal fuel consumption and emission targets.

My dream is next year 5 pot S3 300bhp, chip it up a bit and wait for the 400bhp RS3 that will eventually follow. Both in the 4seat sedan version as per concept :)

thanks for your thoughts

New S3 will be 2.0TFSI with 275-300 hp.
