I decided to spend the time matching the spec of both the A6 and 5 series to show which car is the cheapest to buy (at RRP). It's shocking reading for BMW fans. :hihi:

530d M/Sport £42090.00 A6 3.0TDI S/Line (Comfort PK) £42450.00
Silver Metallic STD £750.00
19” 351M rims £1210.00 £785.00
Black Leather STD STD
Brushed Aluminium £240.00 STD
Sat Nav Business Package £1565.00 STD
DAB Radio £315.00 £410.00
BMW Business speakers £415.00 STD
Folding Ext Mirrors £250.00 £235.00
Ambient Lighting STD £595.00
Heated Front Seats STD £390.00
Split Folding Rear Seats £345.00 STD
Elec Fr Seats + Dr Memory £920.00 Part of Comfort PK
Tyre Pressure monitor £255.00 STD
Xenon Headlights £920.00 STD
Headlight wash £215.00 STD
Comfort access £570.00 Part of Comfort PK
Reversing Camera £330.00 Part of Comfort PK
USB audio interface STD £260.00
Sports Auto + paddles £1540.00 STD

GRAND TOTAL £51180.00 £46685.00

A saving of £4495.00

Even if they were similarly priced I would have went for the A6 because of the quality difference,it's looks and it drives as well but the fact that with my spec it works out over £4k cheaper was a no brainer.

Well, that is good to know considering the other thread with the A7. Again though, this is in the UK. But yes, we shouldn't complain on this side of the pond considering the comparison. ;)

If the UK is showing such a wide variation between the A6 and 5 series then at the very least the A6 shouldn't be any dearer in America than what the 5 series is.

Just a thought. :vhmmm:

p.s. Funny thing about the A7 is that in the UK spec for spec it's price is near enough identical to the CLS. So it is obvious that where each brand can make money like in the UK and across Europe Audi are very competitive but in America they aren't willing to make nexts to nothing as both BMW and Mercedes are willing to do.
