Here is a link to the first test of the American A7. Performance was about the same as the last A6 3.0T, or a little slower than expected. The weight of 4,260 pounds likewise isn't that light. Nevertheless they still liked pretty much everything about the A7 but the price which was 80,000 with options. Fuel economy was really good at 23 mpg, considering that Car and Driver rarely gets even 1 mpg better than the EPA city rating in their testing. I know the S7 is coming with the FI V8 but it would have been interesting to see what the A7 could have done with the A8's 372 horsepower 4.2 FSI.

Wow, that pricing is tough... The RS 6 was priced at $82K here, so for basically the same price you get a car with over 100hp less, nearly 100lb. ft. less, same weight (actually slightly heavier) and slightly better fuel economy. And one less seat.

it is overpriced when you realize the new CLS550 is 5K less and has 100 more horses. makes the A7 price absurd actually. 85K is what i would have expected the S7 to cost. at this rate the S7 will be 95K. audi had better give the A7 350 hp (2012.5 S4 engine) and give the S7 450 hp (C5 RS6 power levels) to justify that silly price.

Yes, compared to the other manufactures, Audi is pricey.

I really depends of the spec that was added to their press car which if typical will be loaded to the gills with kit that nobody wants or even needs. For example I've ordered an A6 S-Line and combining standard kit with my list of options have my car listing over £3.5k less than an identically specced 530d. I know the UK and the US are different markets but there really is no reason why the A7 should be more expensive than it's rivals.

To be fair you get more electronic goodies when you option it up all the way, it's also somewhat larger than the C5 A6 and gets about 40% better EPA fuel economy but you would expect that with 8 years of development. I think most will be sold with fewer options and in the mid 60k price range.
