I am taking apart the fmu, and removing seals and installing new ones.....i do not have an audi pluger for the process of seating, and these babies cost $85 a piece. Has anyone installed these before and used a macguivere to seat them properly w/o damaging???

Go out and buy a generic bearing race/ seal driver kit. As you've seen, these seals are too expensive to destroy trying to drive them without the proper tool.

Ty Pat!!! and Ty autozone!, rent the kit...Pat the audi repair manual says NO lube or oil of any kind, not even a smidge of wd40 to help grease the wheels? or insert dry?

Correct, the seals go in dry.

Ok I am man enough to admit when I make a mistake, $170 mistake. When I got car back the fmu riverside can sat high and was rubbing hood. So I removed whole set up, including air box maf's, in my haste, I reinstalled the maf's upside down!! Now I understand why seals were srcewey, also I wonder if was also throwing the low intermittent code? Strange, like i said in another thread, car runs awesome, no idle issues, or other air leak issues. So I am on my couch waiting for my seals from mechanic buddy who was taking some ASE tests tonight. Jeez, I feel stupid.
