April 24, 2011.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it or not: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=11V267 (http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=11V267)

I'd much rather like to have the tank replaced, and dread the thought of the body under the rear seat being drilled into.

I'm guessing something is better than nothing? Not sure how this will affect all those that had to fork out for new tanks.

Guess I'll call the dealer and see if a 6 speed conversion voids a recall? I'm guessing it doesn't, though.

Yikes! This is the first I've heard of this -- thanks for posting. I need to take my beast to the dealer for some scheduled service in June anyway, so I'm going to jump on this as well.

Good to see. I wasn't looking forward to pulling the whole rear end apart to get at that fuel tank.

Looks like the work doesn't begin until June? I'm guessing they need to stock up on drill bits and epoxy and train (cough, yea right, cough) the techs on how to do it without doing more damage?

Turn it in to extended warranty now. Replace the tank

hint, hint

And where the hell is NHTSA on the Mercedes fuel tank issue? MIA

This is good news. When Audi replaced my tank the NHSTA asked for all the paperwork.
A big thanks to everyone who filed the reports and submitted their VIN #'s

Does this mean those who have had this done 5 times get reimbursed? They should..
I had mine done a few years ago here in SoCal. but we are covered already under a 7 year emissions law.. however, I just informed my SA about this and as soon as it starts, I will have mine recalled and fixed.
Better late than never..

Geeez. Glad mine was replaced under my CPO and i didn't pay for it. If they ever get to the transmission i might cry now that i gave up on the car.

Talked to Caousel Audi in MN and they don't have any information on it yet. Seemed to know there was a recall issued though.

See Dave, we can get the govenment to do good things for us :)

Amanda: When I started my calls with Audi they assured me that the RS6 was not affected by the original recall. A few calls to the NHTSA and with help from some fellow members, Audi decided to recall the tank. I am sure the UK has a similar agency that you can call.

But I did configure a new RS5 with ceramics on www.audi.com.mx (http://www.audi.com.mx) @ 1,600,000 pesos!!!! :)
