My warranty company is going to cover replacing both turbos. Here's the rub...they received a labor quote of 27hrs from an Audi joint near them in Mass. My shop received quotes locally from dealers averaging 42hrs. I went through Terry's docs and was unable to piece together the effort required. Just not smart enough. Does anyone have any labor quotes on replacing both turbos?

Thanks, Pete

That's actually about right, if not generous. It usually pays 20-22hrs. to R&R engine/transmission assembly.

It's only 42 hours if they do them one at a time :)

Not a fun job I can tell you from experience but if it is an experienced shop, the second or third or .... time is always easier. Plus I did it by myself. Well at least I got it all out of the car without breaking anything, I still have to get it all back in. Anyone know where this little bolt goes?

After having just done it (engine out, that is), probably could do it it 27 hours now. My first time was about 35-40 hrs and then another 3 hours to seperate engine and tranny, which basically requires removal of turbos and manifolds. Can be done without doing this, but it's not easier OR faster. If the shop that quoted the 27hrs is an experienced in the RS6, you should be fine. If not....

PS...I only had 1 10mm bolt and 1 10mm nut left over...:) car runs mint.

I would do it for $2K. I bet it takes less than 20 hours.

I just looked over my old bills.

When my TC was replaced they billed the warrantee company for $3600.00.. They said they pulled the engine out! I was not able to be there to see for sure!.

Does $3600 sound about right to pull the engine, change the TC and re-install??

including parts, yes.... Just labor, no....
My maximum labor rate would be $2k

shame on me.... So damn busy I guess.... I use to hang and post some on AW then drifted away. Now that I have the Rs6 I'm getting into it a lot more. Nice to "see" you again.
