That one is a 2003 manufacture so I think I would hold out for something a few years newer. Check mmaturo as he just traded in his car and mentioned that he pulled the RNS-E unit out before taking it to the dealer. It is a very nice upgrade and I highly recommend do the OEM Bluetooth while your at it since the crappy Telematics/Onstar analog system is dead anyways.

That unit was (it sold weeks ago) a C5 A6 euro model serial number. Guys install them into B5 A4's because even though they weren't designed for that platform, they fit.

I would say it was a pretty damn good deal at $400 with no harness. Even though the auction was a little sketchy looking, it was listed as used in working condition, which gives you recourse if you are sold a bum unit.

I paid $400 for a known broken unit with the correct harness, which I then fixed DIY on the super-cheap.

A6 RNS-E's are rare enough that you have to pounce when you find one. But I also won't pay $1300 for one either. Just not in my value equation. I always snipe on eBay, nothing better than outbidding another sniper by 1% at the last nanosecond. I always wonder who the hell those dolts are who bid two days before an auction closes and drive the price up for everyone.

It took me exactly 15 mins to install it with the harness he provided. Now i just have to Jaz it up with option i will use really on thing is the VIM other then that i'm not worried about Bluetooth, i usally get texts and emails hadly ever calls anymore. Times have changed.
Again thank you Stephen.

Congrats Palette on the RNS-E. Even though they have been around a few years, with new Nav discs they are still really nice units, I do like the Nav in most cases better than my portable Garmin I use in my tt commuter. I understand what you say about the Bluetooth, but if you decide to do it the install is a little more work than just the RNS-E but it is a nice integrated system. Just keep an eye out on Ebay for a good priced OEM Bluetoth module, I paid dealer prices for mine. And if you have Sirius or XM you need a newer module than what the RS6's originally came with in N. America, the new ones looks the same and are plug & play but the old ones just don't work with the RNS-E.

If anyone, maybe Haggie on http://audiforum.us/forums/rns-e.40/

Some people get them, I have no clue how.

I was referring to the a6 faceplate for the a4 rns-e. Eventually I want to go RNSE with bluetooth but it is difficult to justify the expense.

I just bought a local A4 RNS-E for $600 out of a '07 A4. May keep it as a spare for mine (swap faceplate), may sell it, or may install it in my daughters '08 A4. It was advertised by a young lady a couple of weeks ago for $750 and I offered her $600 and she turned me down. Now she is selling it at $600 so I picked it up. I should have offered her $500 but didn't want to let it go at that price.

That one might be a little high without the DVD drive working since the maps won't even display. I'm not sure where you can get parts to repair it as Audi doesn't sell them but some people on Navplus.us seem to come up with parts now and then.
