Rumor: Audi working on the A9 four-door luxury sports car.
According to the latest reports from German magazine Auto Zeitung, it appears that Audi is currently planning a new model, an elegant four-door, four seater luxury sports car that will carry the same technology found on the Porsche Panamera.
As expected the car will be offered with the Quattro all-wheel-drive system, but a rear-wheel-drive version will also be offered.
Regarding the engines, the car is expected to carry the same engines found on the new Audi A8.
This means that we could see a V8 engine delivering 372 horsepower and an ample 328 lb-ft. of torque, but also a supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 with 213 kW (290 hp).
A diesel version of the car is also expected, powered by the popular 3.0 TDI with 184 kW (250 hp).
Still, a hybrid version is also expected, and sources say that this model could deliver up to 500 hp.
The most powerful version of the car is expected to reach a top speed of around 300 km/h or 186 mph.
Regarding the price, the car dubbed A9, will carry a base price of around $137,000 or €100,000, which means it will be more expensive than the A8 flagship sedan.
