Sorry to hear that. That's why no more 0 to 60 for me. It was just a matter of time before that was going to happen. There's just so much any Tranny can take. And too many 0 to 60 blasts will eventually take care of it. They're almost done with mine now, and while I might make a couple of 0 to 60 runs I guaranty it won't be any more than that. The Labor involved in removing these Transmissions is insane, let alone the cost of repairing it. My Tranny didn't really fail, all I got was the Dreaded 17125 Fault code. And luckily the Warranty company decided to cover me even though the car was still running fine. Any way let us know what the outcome is and good luck......................

its awfully tough not to run into this at some point, especially with a tune. I did about as much preventative maintenance I could, and still will be replacing my tc within the next month or so. 500+ hp with 4300 lbs. Stuff will break.

That is the exact same thing that happened to mine. Except mine would not catch until 4th gear. Would slip and start banging thru gears until 4th grabbed and you could creep along.

But that is what the fun is, right?

Intriguing??? How is it that some get the dreaded 17125 code or CEL's, but no slipping and some have catastrophic slippage with no codes or CEL'S? Mine always had the 17125 code but no CEL until very recently, at which time I decided to stop driving it and ordered a new TC, which I am waiting for. Is my tranny still safe? It never slipped. Did I catch it in time?

Does anyone have an image of the ace conveter vs the stock one or the new stock one??

No I used the trans out of my last car. Was an OEM repalcement that had about 20k on it, so should be good for awhile (hopefully)

I have a picture of ace converter, but it is just an oem converter painted grey. Uses stock case

Buy an ace converter, and do the sneaky sneaky switch. The new one that is coming should look the same as the one from ace. Unless it's already mounted to the trans, in which case either bribe, I mean, pay, the shop to do the switch or wait and do it yourself down the road. You'll already have the converter!

While the Engine was out I was going for Larger Turbo's. A Loba Hybrid Turbo kit from Germany was going to run in Excess of $4000.00. In addition to that a Low compression Head Gasket is required as well as additional fueling. All that with a good Map may get you 600-650hp. Oh! and lets not forget a beefed up Tranny is also required which my Warranty company was not going to cover. So the expense is extreme. Is it worth it? Your call. For me If I can get 520-530hp and about 550-600 ft lb of torque at the wheels I'll be happy. My Torque converter and Valve body are OEM since that's all the Warranty company would cover. Whether these beefed up TC's and Tranny's are actually better, I don't know. But If I blow this one, at least I'll be covered. Just food for thought...............

Last week I smoked my tranny for good. Boom, it's gone. Slipping like crazy and making a whining noise through first, second, and third. Oh crap. Limp to the dealer and cross my fingers.

Good news: Audi Fidelity Platinum came through once again and fully covered a brand new OEM trans and revised TCU. Would it be better to have a built/upgraded unit? Of course. But they're not going to cover that. I have to be happy with not paying the nut for new OEM stuff with it's own 1 year warrantee installed by an RS tech!

Fidelity has saved my a$$ on this car. My hat is off to them. They have stuck me with some "wear items" that some guys debate, like cooling pipes and control arms, a switch, etc. But the retail cost of all the major fixes they have covered has been 4x what I paid for the warranty! :deal: Somewhere an actuary is crying.

Hope your situation works out, Palette!
