Trying to do the OnStar -> Bluetooth retrofit, all the walk throughs I have found show the OnStar under the passenger seat. I pulled my seat out, and its not under there. Only thing under the carpet on the passenger side is the TCU module...........

For future reference it is behind the glovebox.

- Remove pass. carpet trim (like you are trying to get to the TCU)
- Remove Glovebox
- Pull back carpet
- Remove 3 10mm nuts holding OnStar module to bracket

For guys who have done the OnStar -> BT retrofit w/RNS-E can you do me a favor?

Can you scan Vagcom fault codes on channel 77 (telephone) and list any faults you have?

I have the BT module working flawlessly, but have a 02619 fault logged. Not sure if this is normal since the network is expecting OnStar, but instead is talking to BT.

I just scanned mine and there are no faults. I also checked my soft coding at it was 0010722 so check yours. Also my RNS-E is coded 509631. I did the RNS-E coding so I would Not have the Navigation display in the DIS in the instrument cluster. For some reason when you code it to display up there it is the default and always starts with a blank Nav screen and you have to toggle with the stalk switch to get MPG or something back up. I would check your soft coding first.

Thanks!

My BT is coded 0010777 and RNS-E is 0502671

I do have my DIS coded to display NAV and have no issues with it.....

I checked the OnStar->BT wiring multiple times and it is correct and like I said works flawlessly.....hmmm

I have not tried coding the RNS to the sound system (9) instead of C5 4B (2). Other than that it looks like it should work fine. What do you have for the Aux input? Ipod? I had coded mine for UK english as I liked the Female accent a little better.

Yes I have an iPod dock connector going into the AUX (via line out from the iPod/iPhone, not 3.5mm jack).

It is simple all you need is;

- Upgrade to 0250 RNS-E firmware and code the RNS-E 6th digit for AUX (5), or AUX and SAT (7)
1111711118
- Buy a 32-pin AMP connector (1J0972977G)
- Buy 2 repair wires for the AMP connector (000979009) or source 3 pins for the 32pin AMP connector
- Male iPod dock connector or 3.5mm stereo jack cable
iPod Dock Line Out Left - pin 4
iPod Dock Line Out Right - pin 3
iPod Dock Line Out Ground - pin 2

Connect iPod Dock pins 11 and 15 together, then connect those pins to pin 21 using a ~66K Ohm resistor (to enable line out on iPhone, iPod Touch devices).

- Connect the cable of choice outputs to the 32pin AMP connector using the repair wires
Aux In Left - pin 22
Aux In Right - pin 6
Aux In Ground - pin 21

Connect 32pin AMP to RNS-E and select AUX input and enjoy!
