on decelber 12th, I tested a 21 inch Q7 wheel (10X21 ET44 with 20mm tailor made spacer) on the RS5 on the front then on the rear... each time, i made a little tour in a roundabout to check potential rubbing.... adn good news it doest rubb. there is more room in the front then in the rear very different than A5/S5 chassis...

On the rear its prety tight... here are some pics

a pic with front wheels mounted:
http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/4526/janteq7surrs5avant2800.jpg[/url ([URL]http://img585.imageshack.us/i/janteq7surrs5avant2800.jpg/)]

same on the rear:

To see how tight it is on the rear I pisitioned one side of the rear on a bump to haev it go inside the fender on that side by about 2 cm or 0.75 inches
here is the pic:

To have special designed 21 inch 3 part forged wheels for the RS5, I went to Miami early febriary, have a visit the ADV1 guys and signed a contract with them.

I met Jordan and Miguel, cool guys.
here they are (Miguel on the left and Jordan at teh right):
http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/3883/migueljordan.jpg (http://img829.imageshack.us/i/migueljordan.jpg/)

When we arrived, it was clear I had arrived at teh right place, a white Gallardo was showing around.

this is the one:
http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/9963/gallardod.jpg (http://img638.imageshack.us/i/gallardod.jpg/)

A corvette as well was nearby...

At miami, its design and sales office. Production is in Calfornia. I was invited to go to Cliforanis to check the factory but it was too tight in our schedule ot make it work.

SPEC of the wheels will be 3 part 10X21 ET26 (ROTOR look bicolor with one spoke written RS QUATTRO and center hole allowign to place the OEM AUDI caps.

Finish will be as desired. exterior lip can be polished, polie with varnish , chrome, brushed or painted (always using powder technology whih is much lighter and stronger).
The center can be of one color or two colors (like the titane OEM rotor).

We can also know sell the ADV1 wheels (with exception of Germany).
All wheels being tailor made with diamter, width and ET as desired by customer

Really happy to have take a plane to go to Miami
I did come back dead though.

We had a bite at one of the italien restaurants at miami beach which we had to go since their name is "QUATTRO" as shown on this pic:
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6438/restoquattromiamibeach.jpg (http://img140.imageshack.us/i/restoquattromiamibeach.jpg/)

on saturday we had some free time we went to see the everglades.

A little video sequence taken with my Iphone on these airboats that go pretty fast at about 60Km/h or 40miles/h on the water.

Its a great feeling. we have the felign that you are sliding on the water and driving like a car on curves sideways... lots o fun...

We then worked on the air filters...

http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/2881/compartimentmoteur800.jpg (http://img707.imageshack.us/i/compartimentmoteur800.jpg/)
It appears that the original filters partially obstructs the air intake air boxes in the car thus affecting the airflow. On top of that, the OEM botom foam tends to come off and this after only 3600 miles!
photo of the original filter:
http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/3904/filtrers5oemmarqu2.jpg (http://img37.imageshack.us/i/filtrers5oemmarqu2.jpg/)
The new filters are made of foam and are thinner thus allowing optimal air flow. The flow is thus improved by 11%.
http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/6544/filtrescomparatif.jpg (http://img546.imageshack.us/i/filtrescomparatif.jpg/)
And on the dyno ?
We simply replaced the two OEM paper filters by foam filters with better design and this has led to a power gain of 6 HP and 9 Nm of torque without any further modification!
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/1902/rs5filtergaincv800.jpg (http://img231.imageshack.us/i/rs5filtergaincv800.jpg/)
http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/6521/rs5filtergainnm800.jpg (http://img840.imageshack.us/i/rs5filtergainnm800.jpg/)

No doubt its worth it on a RS5 !

amazing project, like everything exept of the subwoofers. How will the wheels look like?
can you explain this: "* Interior upholstery redone (since AUDI did not accept to do what I wanted) with a combinaison of black nappa leather with blue stiches and blue alcantara"?

youry
March 8th, 2011, 22:09
I mean we removed the leather from the seats and reaplced with new leather and alcantare and blue stiches. AUDI did not want to do this on my RS5..... which in other words its bull shit that AUDI can do what you want.... its what they allow you to do.... neither did they accpet to do the roof ceiling in alcantara...

the center of the 3 part whels will look like the OEM rotor wheels in bi color...

MihokS5,

Yes more pics will come, We took lots of them during that day... some in front of 40 feet containers and some next to a canal...

The photgrapher is doing this on his spare time so he needs time to transfer them rework them a bit in terms of size, selecting the good ones, adding his website on them etc...

I'm as desperate as you to see them...

you are totally right. doing too much kills a car... I've been modifying all my cars since the age of 20-21 (am 37 now), and have gone too far in the past. you learn by making mistakes right.

actually the car is close to completion.... wheels and some bits of carbon and its done... so it won't become ugly...

After seeing this i pulled a filter out of mine yesterday to have a look, it is only glued in the spots the pic shows, and that bottom layer of material is a decent restriction..

Its significantly dirtier after only 1250k's.

nor surprised by you picture....

The filters are being sold under our RS QUATTRO made on private label. I have 5 pairs ordered right now. should get them in about 2 weeks. We are further improving the deign versus the prototypes by adding a 45 degree chamfer on the inlet side... the product is now ideal in my view.

Its significantly dirtier after only 1250k's.

That's not too surprising, giarc, after the last couple if months of weather we've had - we've had some pretty dust spells following all the rain that washed all the mud into the streets. The street outside my office in Southbank alternates between a mud bath and a dust bowl, and our downstairs car park is clogged with dust.

I'm going to pull my filters out for a look soon as well.

you are totally right. doing too much kills a car... I've been modifying all my cars since the age of 20-21 (am 37 now), and have gone too far in the past. you learn by making mistakes right.

actually the car is close to completion.... wheels and some bits of carbon and its done... so it won't become ugly...

Your cars are always tastefully done. I'm curious, do you have any pictures of your mistakes in the past?

Oh you would not want to see my first projects.... GOLF 4 with BORA front and basically too much modified, A4 AVANT B6 with fenders enlarged by 4cm in the back and sound system with amps coming out of the trunk pneumatically..... I was definately crazy.... I do have pics but that would definately kill my credibility here... I was young..... I believe I started doing the things right from my previous RS4 V8 where I balanced correctly the quality/quantity of mods and stay with the concept of the car.

Really nice car and really nice pics. I'm not fan of that blue colour, but on those pics with black optic package looks awesome!

You install KW V3 Suspension on your car, is Dynamic/Auto/Confort button still working or not?

RS QUATTRO wheelsare going to be 21' only, or 20' too? Do you already know weight of those wheels? Original RS5 20' are 14kg per wheel if I'm corect.

Kind Regards

the design for thr wheels will be orderable in diamters from 19 to 24 inches adn width as wanted...

in belgium the DRC suspension is not standard and is an option (vs UK where tis standard fro exemple). so in my case the buttons don,'t change anything onthe suspension side with stock suspension neither...

KW has a kit to avoid errors if that suspension is on it... lowerign a car and keeping a very confortabel car is not really compatible. all I can say is that even at 3 to 3.5cl mower I have side ride confort as OEM standadr suspension.

i think OEM 20 inch weight is rather 15 Kgs.... i am looking at getting the 21 at 13-14 Kgs.... will know for sure when they are made...

Youry have these new design filters been used and approved for use? when or how can I order them?

nor surprised by you picture....

The filters are being sold under our RS QUATTRO made on private label. I have 5 pairs ordered right now. should get them in about 2 weeks. We are further improving the deign versus the prototypes by adding a 45 degree chamfer on the inlet side... the product is now ideal in my view.

Wow Youry, your car amazing!!!! I was following your thread and just had to join after seeing your build.

i had a couple questions...

1. I am very interested in your rsquattro branded products, especially the new wheel with ADV.1. Will you be doing any other designs and I know you said it will be available in 19-23" but will it also be available in their trackspec or one piece monoblock line?
2. Do you still sell carbon fiber parts for the RS4 like on your website? The parts look beautiful and tasteful and i would love to get some of the interior seat tops and door sills.

Thanks

Actually our RS QUATTRO wheels are using the trackspec contoured specs... and will only ne available with the spec which for me is simply the best. the flat lips are very nice but when it rains you get water stuck and vibrations, the trackspec step lips don't and with the contoured version you get all the best you can get in terms of concavity. basically you get a 3 part wheels with all its flexibility and non of its typical disadvantages (looks smaller in diameter when not contoured for exemple or if flat lip then water vibration issues)

for thr carbon parts for the RS4 we actually have stopped making them do to very low demand... we are working on RS5 carbons parts right now.... they should be ready in about a month.

in this case its an R8. it depends what is the final objective. if goal is to have full air leather then base is to use TTRS, if goal is to have half air leather half smooth leather, then RS6 base is ideal. if anyway all leather work has to be redone (like on mine to have suede) then base is of no real importance anyway.

audi exclusive indeed woudl fo alcantara on the standard RS5 sport seats. but would not agree to do it on the RS5 bucket seats for an obscure reason.

actually the first combination of blue and black was done by audi on the S3 8L in nogarao blue with a alcantara that was very well matching that color. so got inspired from AUDI to start with. but I think I did it a little better by choosing blue stiching on the black leatehr that you can see. typically AUDi used to thin stiching... also that can all be arguable as well....

thansk for sahring the video had never seen it before and its actually a very well made video by audi....
