Looks like Piech is still steaming after the Rolls-Royce BMW debacle a decade ago.

I don't think Piech is driven by emotions. He's a businessman first and foremost and everything he does has a reason with the benefit of VAG as the end result. BMW must be in fear at the moment because they know full well they can't win a bidding war with Volkswagen and with VW as a major shareholder their secrets of their i model range will be known well ahead of release. Don't quite know how this will work out but I bet behind closed doors BMW and VW are talking to try and resolve this.
