My RNS-E just blew it's diode and no longer reads discs. I'm waiting for pioneer to release the avic x930 BT... They brought back the volume knob on the new model, which is mandatory for me. There's just too much great technology in the newest units vs rns-e. I don't like the aftermarket look though, so I'm going to be molding a custom faceplate...

Thought seriously about going with a carputer like the above, I would love to design my own interface to mimic audi visual identity (yeah I'm a dork) but am thinking simplicity of the pioneer outweighs hackability of the carputer, I don't know.

I am thinking about doing a carputer as well. I really want my DIS to work though so it might take a lot of hacking and work.

The part that I like about THIS carputer is the possibility to plug in the VAG COM directly into it via USB and get your real-time graphs/data/info.
And it is about 1/2 the cost of an RNS-E.
I would like to see photos of install on someone's else's car... :)
As the fit/finish doesn't always go with the installed product.

skribe,

I would go in on the faceplate with the Pioneer if you go that route - I am still original and want a more modern GPS - one that gives me traffic since I live in lala land.
