First, thanks for the scans! :thumb:

Second, several things. I noticed (how could one not) that enormous fan in the back! The article fails to mention if it has any use... could it be something as simple as keeping the hybrid system cool? Or something much cooler as in the Chaparral race car of old!

Also, the EVO article seems to indicate this guy decides if Porsche or Audi will represent VAG's presence at Le Mans. Thanks again for the scans. :scans.

The hybrid system is the flywheel in the front and appears to be supplied by its own coolant. The fan seems to be directly above the mid-mounted engine, so it's unlikely to be for downforce and is probably just for heat extraction. Sometimes heat extraction can be a problem when running large wings, which is the reason the GT2 RS never got the wing from the GT3 RS. Most cars have a huge vented rear end but the 918 appears to only have ducts for the rear arches. I'm guessing that without the fan the downforce-induced pressure would obstruct the venting of the engine bay. Having a fan also allows you to control the rate of heat extraction.

When i saw the first photos, i thought they are only photoshops but as i realized that this thing is real, i said woowwwww, this is the nicest real racecar-looking racecar i've seen for a very long time! But when i read the article i was a bit confused, i like Porsche, but i really hope that the presence in Le Mans is not a question anymore, especially since diesels are in the party. Plus i want to see that Audi brokes Porsche's record of 16 absolute wins:race::revs:

I agree on the Le Mans issue, but it is sounding like Porsche is not having that record broke :(

As for the fan, so the guess is to keep things cool.
