They say high-rev 500HP@ about 8000/min 5.0 liters
Engine was tested with 530HP, and it's brother M6 will have more power (tested with nearly 600HP).
They still talk about 19" (front) and 20" (rear), and sparsely used visible carbon parts. Rumours again on a M5 touring.

Things I start woundering about when I look at those pictures.
a. Why does the antenna has a straight cut? That will create a separeted flow.
b. Why don't use a rear diffuser instead of that lowered part between the exhaust pipes? Cool if they use the diffuser flow to create a downforce wing between the pipes but is you look at the angle of the material between the pipes it looks more like it has a negative effect instead of a possitive.
c. I can't see any rear spoiler and I can't really think the stock 5-serie has that good downforce at the rear that's not nethed to have a rear spoiler.
Only my 2 cents. :D

Well, aerodynamics are complicated stuff. Mayhap that diffuser-like thing produdces a lot of downforce after all? :) And the last M5 didn't have a spoiler either, just a small lip. :incar:

I just saw pictures of the new M5 being benchmarked against two M3s. M3 CSL, E55 AMG and...the RS6.

Good stuff. The peprter said they seemed to have problems with the E55 since they were under the hood all of the time.

Als zweite Stufe will BMW eine gewichtsoptimierte CSL-Variante zünden – mit 550 (statt 500) PS.

Wasn't there one time when "M" said that their cars will always have a manual transmission, and a N/A engine?

It's sad to see BMW using cheap plastic around the SMG.

But it's a cool car bound to set new standards (not looks though...)
