Is that the price underneath the 81.55?

Where the hell are you buying your gas? Ive never gone over 55, but then again that is around 18 gallons.

As for your question, according to the manual the tank is 21.6 gallons. Of that, approximately 2 gallons is reserve. Did you coast down a long hill into the gas station?

Yep, got to love So Cal...

Wow, you WERE close. I thought I was bone dry once and I hit 22.7 gallons... NICE!

Ben

PS, Edmunds says 21.7 and I already knew that was not accurate since I passed it. Damn, you must have the new record!

better check your back seat or under the car for the 1.5gl that over flowed or popped the fuel sending unit off and unsealed...

I fill it when the alarm goes off = 18+ gl @ $3.30/gl

3.00 here on the east coast. Perhaps the 1.9-2.1 isnt included in the total capacity. Instead its additional.

I would say the pump accuracy had to be off by almost a gallon (manual quotes 21.6u.s. gallons), even if the tank was fairly dry. Yea, 3.539 per gallon is pricey, I thought we were pricey up here in Washington paying 3.379 per gallon, but at least it is 92 Octane. For you Europeans, that is R+M/2 which is around 96~97 RON.

agree on the pump calibration, its a great way to make more $$ in that industry

Right on all counts. Yesterday I filled up my tank the very minute the pump sign appeared on the dash. according to the manual the capacity is 81 liters. (21.42 gal.) and when the little pump appears there are 10 liters on the reserve (2.64 gal.), nonetheless, the pump registered 77.8 liters, so I had only .846 gal., so, ¿what gives?. In my dear Mexico is not uncommon to get 900 c.c. for a liter in many gas stations. By the way, the gallon is $ 3.57 today.

Bilko1, I was up around Cambridge a couple of months ago for work and I couldn't believe those prices when I filled my rental car. I was thinking that if I had to fill my RS6 or my truck with fuel at those prices I wouldn't be driving them much.

Think I need to move to the USA and bring my beast with me, you guys get cheap fuel and have really good transmission specialists what more does an rs6 owner need :)

I don`t really know. I believe it to be a C5, `cause it has the split grille and square instead of rectangular taillights, I`ll look it up in the owner`s manual, and I`ll keep trying to post some pictures.

I'm pretty sure you have a C5 RS6. Looks like this right?

$2.89/gallon? HA! I just filled up tonight Jan 2, 2011 in NYC. $3.61/gal 22 gallons = $80 USD.

With "0" miles left on the dash, the most I've every filled up was 22 gallons.

EVERYONE - Let's just say that my needle was way left of the E.

I have been low before but never that low.......my previous record was 22 something (similar to some of you).

I was bone dry and I'm just glad I made it to the station........the price is typical for the ritzy neighborhood I was in......and yes original owner to the person who asked.

straight gas baby!!

i think it may have something to do with the fact that gas contracts in the cold.....and it's been alaska cold in cali for a while.......i think that's why stations in cold weather countries (like canada) adjust there pumps in the winter. but when it gets super hot gas expands and you get less volume for the price......but u never see gas station adjust prices in the summer (to their advantage)

if its a gas station you use frequently contact the state inspector and tell them there pumps are way off.. they should send someone out to check pumps and tanks if enough complaints start rolling in, 2-3 Gallons of premium is not cheap and there screwing alot of ppl over with that bad of a calibration. Some poor bastard with a big dual tank truck/van/camper is gona get hosed.

V8weight; Please excuse me for not answering your post sooner, I`m still trying to find my way around, I`ve never posted before and didn`t see yours until today. Back on the subject: The car on the picture (¿ yours?) is an exact copy of mine, right down to the smoked glass windows, minus the shark fin, I`ll keep on trying to post some pictures, especially of the battery and tools on the well wheel, since I don`t think is pretty common is USA cars.
