Hmmm- some have had this happen when their starter decided to check out. Can't hurt to disconnect and let it reset to give it a shot.

starter solenoid maybe.... but check battery voltage to begin with.. then its time to hammer the starter

not following...what do you mean (sorry, probably a dumb question)?

when i turned the key half way, the battery voltage guage went about to middle I think (normally goes 3/4 of the way to right side)....turned on radio and headlights for a second and the guage dipped down to about 1/4 mark from left (8, I think it is), then went back half-way when I turned off lights

Your voltage shouldn't be dipping that much. Check your battery.

Seems like your battery have seen better days.

+1.... the clicking is a dead give-a-way, in my book...

I seem to remember that Holiday had a dead one upon returning from bombing the h3ll out one of those "stan" countries for a year; ended up getting soaked at the stealership for the battery ($300+) and then to add insult to injury, they greased him for "resetting the clock and head unit" for something like that for $130....

Assuming the no load battery Voltage is OK(at least 12V), I would call loose battery terminal connectors. Check for tightness. If less than 12V then battery may be bad, assuming the Alternator is good and nothing is unknowingly draining the battery..................

Hook a charger to it and see what happens.
