Ok... looks like I need to replace the huge boat anchor in the trunk.

did a google and came across this...
http://motorsports.chrismore.com/2010/03/audi-rs6-lightweight-battery-install.html
although I like the idea of losing 50lbs I'm not up for having to jump the car once a week.

anyone have any other options with a more normal sized battery???

Unfortunately, there aren't many options.
Fortunately, search is your friend on this site and this topic has been covered alot.
You can get a battery relocation kit and remove your "spare" tire and it fits in that space with the provide tray - then you have to figure on the carpeting in the trunk issue.
IIRC, the mini battery must be run/charged once a week, like you stated..

Also, where the heck have you been????

found these:

stock replacement, 60lbs:
http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc1350.htm

or this which lists it as Audi RS6 compatible, 38lb:
http://www.apexbattery.com/audi-rs6-battery-2004-v8-4-2l-car-batteries-audi-batteries.html
which is this:
http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc1200lmjt.htm

Guessing that the smaller battery you would have to make some sort of adapter to use it...

>You can get a battery relocation kit

Hmmmm... that might be interesting.

>Also, where the heck have you been????

hehehe... lurking mostly when I get the time, damn work getting in the way of fun!!!... time to buy that lotto ticket.

For Full Size Batteries;

I went with an Interstate Battery due to the warranty http://interstatebatteries.com/cs_eStore/Products/RT/PID-MTP-H8%28Automotive+Truck%29.aspx?dsNavigation=Ns~prod uct+Type|101|1|%2cNrc~id-4%2cN~21-4294492332&Title=Mega-Tron+Plus+-+85+Months+-+720+CCA (http://interstatebatteries.com/cs_eStore/Products/RT/PID-MTP-H8%28Automotive+Truck%29.aspx?dsNavigation=Ns%7Epr oduct+Type%7C101%7C1%7C%2cNrc%7Eid-4%2cN%7E21-4294492332&Title=Mega-Tron+Plus+-+85+Months+-+720+CCA)

Bosch is also good choice http://www.pepboys.com/catalog/partresult?category=8&group=19

And there is always the good old OEM 000915105AK

The first one is a Odyssey PC680 which is too small for the RS6 in my opinion, very little reserve power to crank the engine. I went with the PC925t for a little more power but still a 30# weight savings over stock. Here are a couple from the archives as this has been covered a few times.

I notice that several people are using the Odyssey Battery PC925MJT... how do they mount it securely?

Haven't experienced this with a RS6 yet, however I did notice that on my 996 Turbo, with my 11lb battery, when I drive at night, the HID lights REALLY suck the power...gauge is MUCH closer to 12v than when I drive during the day...

The 925 will mount in the stock location if you take the stock hold down and bend it slightly in a vice so it ends up being at about a 45' angle. The stock cables will reach both terminals so no changes there either. As I said, the PC680 will start the car but doesn't have much reserve power if the car even sits for a couple of days with our cars parasitic drain. The 925t or MJT will still need to be put on a trickle charger if you leave your car sit for more than a week at a time like I sometimes do ( I use the Battery Tender Junior).
ttboost, the HID's should only use more power for the first few seconds on warm up, after that the draw should go down to about 35 watts per bulb which is less than regular Halogens which are usually about 55 watts per bulb on low beam.

My battery was getting tired (was draining too fast and not charging up quickly). I got the Bosch from Pepboys which seems to be a dead-on in terms of specs. It was around $100. The battery has the same width and height but is slightly shorter (2") in length. It has the same type of connection for venting the battery too. I made a little brace (2x5) that goes under the tray lip and keeps the end closest to the back of the seat tight.

I've had the odyssey 925T in for a week or so, working great! I drive everyday and the charge has stayed strong, good cranking power. Used a few tie down straps to mount the battery firm in place. Weight savings will be nice...once I get the old battery out of trunk this weekend!

I usually only drive my RS6 about one day a week when I'm around and the 925T is fine with that but sometimes I'm away for two or three weeks and in the winter in a partailly heated garage two to three weeks is a little much so that is why I always hook up the battery tender junior when I get home, plus it should prolong the life of the battery.

I've got a pretty hefty Interstate; I like to have big batteries, for reserve power when the engine is off - those cooling fans don't run on free power! I guess it comes from years of always having a 800-1000 watt aftermarket stereo system; having enough juice is always an issue. With the Skyline crowd, while everyone was trying to get away with the smallest and lightest battery possible, I went and bought the biggest SUV battery I could find and then relocated it to the trunk. Safely securing it was an issue...I once did a very hard spinout when I lost the rear end in a fast corner, and the battery ripped the screws out of its tiedown straps and put some interesting dents in the trunklid :P

btw...where's a good source for the Euro-spec wheelwell tray? I can do the carpet and wiring myself.

Battery? What's that?

I have 119,000 on my original battery! I cannot believe it still works!

Jinks?

Stock went out at 86,500. I've had the Odyssey in for a few weeks, daily driver, doing great. I notice the weight difference even in such a big car...
