Oh crap,

I had to go golfing and now look what you got into. All you deadbeat owners send us some stinkin data logs so that we can build a master file of the various tunes.

Hi Pat -- nice graph. I think I got Double Vision (again).
<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Very business like -- time for me to put away my crayons and start using thinner lines with less distinct colors. I like them because I can see better -- old and going blind or something (more like crappy laptop screens and sunny days).
<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
I wondered a good way to graph two variables against a third (RPM) that makes sense and this does it. A+.
<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Boost is just incredibly spot on. My question is this (maybe yours too): Why at 3600 RPM does Bank 1 Specify (and achieve) so low a value yet bank two does not? Both clean up nicely by 4000 RPM. Clearly the car is doing what it is told to do. The question is why it is so different to begin with (i.e. why is it being told to go so low).
<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Oh one more comment on the graph: for X use time instead of number entry this way we can get a sense of how fast this is happening (it wouldn’t hurt to specify the gear too).
</O:p
My 0.2 ¢ on the subject. See I offered up some change on that one -- not a total deadbeat.

Dave I have to be home to log the car and right now I am not -- besides Pat's got my cable (and putting it to good use I see) so in retrospect not only do I have to be home I need to go see him too.
</O:p

James,

I may have a trial deal for you if Pat will lend us his spare ECU. PM me offline and we can chat about it.

I'm just giving everyone alittle shock treatment to get the logs coming in. Several members have promised this weekend. I think we're finally getting our brains around the various glitches with some tunes.

Pat,

What gear are those two runs? The second run is much better in the a/f department.

JRS-RS6
October 16th, 2010, 03:29
I'm thinking his ECU is already coded for his car so since we have data there it might be the best option to eliminate other variables.

Don't get me wrong I am up for trying something but I currently lack the time to actually do it. Besides recoding the ECU for my car and back to his when we are done might get expensive (unless we can do it ourselves).

I will try to log my car this weekend with Pat. Since he has the logging and graphing down to a science I can drive. :)

Currently I have the 100 Octane tune loaded and about a tank of Aces run on it so I want to see if things have changed. Oh and it is cooler now too which should help.

Let's see: wife, logs, Stealth Bulbs, winter wheels balanced (mount next time home), dogs, bills, look at new cars.......... looks like a busy couple days home.

The first graph is Kyle's stock car, the second is mine, both 3rd gear to redline. No need to read too far into these, I was merely demonstrating that I had figured out how to export them to photobucket. Now we just need to dial in a standardized format, and, Oh yeah, get some damn logs.

Oh crap,

Label these suckers. I should have looked at the yaxis boost numbers to make that connection.

I hear ya James. Good luck on the logs with the new setup. I only have 7am golf, yard work, fireplace demo, move the fireplace, drywall, tape, mud, paint and trim. No test drives for me this weekend. Oh wait, I do have to drive to the course tomorrow. Ahhhhhh

Its taking forever for these logs to surface.

To date we have nothing, nada, zero, ziltch.

Well, ok we have 1 data log from Mark on a outdated Vag without turbo mode. He has promised to upgrade his Vag, get the Eurocharge at Autoscope with dyno time and resend logs. There is hope.

Pat was able to grab the high mileage MTM car in MN but the logs were worthless and the car hardly made any boost. I guess people dont care how their RS6 runs.

Ya, something is going on with that MTM car. When I test drove it, there was something that didn't jive with me. It just didn't feel like it was at full power.

Well, at the very least, we do have dozens of logs for Kyles stock car for baseline comparisons.

Yes, I didnt forget about you. I consider you part of the close group that maintain and share all data as needed.

Kyle's car is the baseline to compare other stock RS6s. His car performs excellent and is very quick.

Going to be a while for me. I will get some MTM logs for you guys at some point... Right now I'm mondo busy/travelling for work and currently have no windows install anywhere since my POS windows lappy shorted itself out a few months ago. When I have time I will do a Win7 install on one of my macbooks.

But, it's going to be awhile. Off the top of my head, my MTM numbers didn't look that dissimilar from Pat's viper tune fwiw.

Regarding the MTM Pat logged, it's possible it still had early-build MTM software that is known to create overboost/checksum errors under some conditions... It's a well-known issue that was fixed long ago, but I'm sure many of the original flawed tunes that were sold back in the day are still out there. When I got my RS, it still had a version 1 MTM release, Hoppen updated it for me.

So why are the o2 values dropping like that? On the stock tune and the ec tune, both banks drop , and on the viper tune, only bank one really drops alot.

Draw trend lines. I dont see both banks dropping on the EC. I see both banks dropping on the stock. And I see both banks rising on the Viper.

I understand the trend, just wondering about the drop around time 10, and on all the other graphs besides the viper tune, both banks read low values then spike and gradually climb. On the viper tune only one bank does this...

That is irrelevant, the car is still in closed loop at that time, which means the lambda's are fluctuating between 0 and .8-.9 volts and maintaing a stoich fuel trim. When the car goes into open loop, it maintains a steady voltage as it runs off the pre determined open loop fuel map. These are the important numbers. A good tune will run right around .85-.87 in open loop. Anything less is lean. You can see that the car is lean from the factory, probably to conserve fuel. When the EGT temps get too high due to the lean condition, the ecu dumps some extra fuel on to quench the egt's.

Hi guys,

This is the lambda sensor showing stoichiometric, ie, AFR 14.7. The lambda will bounce between 0.2v and 0.8v (roughly) when its showing 14.7 to the ECU, its most sensitive at this point only when it goes rich or lean past this that is becomes more stable to our eyes. So when idling or running part throttle (and 14.7 AFR) it will bounce around on these graphs, when the foot is planted it will (should) head towards a more rich point, and a steady 0.8v+

Cheers
Rich

I think we can all agree.

Standing start wot thru 3rd gear and a rolling 3rd gear pull from 3000rpm make for some nice logs that we can all learn from.

So, still waiting on all these logs from everyone. To date we have zero outside of Pat, Kyle and myself in the above format.

Send me the logs and I will make the graphs to match what we have above.
