All, am considering an RS4 cabrio as 2nd car (mainly for my wife) - would be interested to hear your experiences (in particular regarding use as daily driver, any known mechanical issues, what to watch out for, rough indication of yearly maintenance...) - an alternative could be the S4 V8 cabrio which would be less fun for me, but might better suit my wife (in particular the tiptronic for city-driving) anyone having similar experience? many thanks in advance - Marc

Hi and welcome to the site...

Well I the RS4 cab is as much reliable than any RS4 B7. Some engine issue arised here and there but all in all very reliable car/engine and reasonable maintenance.

I saw one cab when I parked at the Gva airport last Monday and its is still a good looking car which is quite rare to be seen. Compared to an S4 well there is no comparison go for the RS. Now for your wife as main driver she will shurely prefer the torque and smooth driving efficiency of the S as the RS must be driven hard to get it right and on highway the lack of torque is quite hard to stand. I am sharing my wife feedback on my former RS4 avant.

But despite the above remarks there is no comparison on the fun factor.

My friend's wife has been very happy with her RS4 Convertible, since 2006.

No known issues.

I've only tried it once, for a short while, but the S4 V8 Avant felt a bit slow with the tip. But for city driving who cares?

I have only heard good things from owners of cabriolets, and they look pretty awesome too.
