read over the last few days, on other forums, posts indicating that the Audi S7 is scheduled for debut in Paris next month with a V8 4.0T bi-overhead turbo producing over 400 hp. Also read that there have been test mules for an ultimate rwd R8 production car with 600 hp that will debut in 2012. anyone have any info on these matters? the former seems plausible, the latter--- not so much.

On the official Paris Auto Show website only listed are S1 and A7! wonder if they could skip such confirmation deliberately..
Also, here (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/256834/secret_audi_r8_rs.html?) you can read about possible R8 RS! sounds very interesting!

they seem to be discribing what certain people around here were re: the R8 that beat the ZR1's ring time.

it looks like no S1 is comming to paris...reason is that there's not really a difference to the polo ... 1.8TFSI Quattro is the next option ;)

1::::::that means when a S1 is comming then with quattro? or no S1 but a 1.8 TFSI quattro for top model?

2::::::is it confirmed that the R8 RS has RWD and no Quattro? or is it just a rumor???

S1 (1.4 T 180 hp quattro), that is very posssible to be seen on ''Paris''...

S7 (4.0 T 450 +/- hp), I think that is also possible for ''Paris'', but than I'm wondering witch engine will future RS 7 recieve...?
i
R8 RS, now that is dilema... I personaly would like ti see RWD R8, but that would be complete turn in Audis philosophy, and I don't expect to see Lambo' Gallardo LP-550-2 VB with R8 body to be released...

hmm the most german sources said that the S1 will be fwd and the first non "S" quattro car. havent you heard the same?

ive read article in german ams and autobild about that.

are you thinking that the S1 will come with quattro or are that the latest rumours?

400-420 hp for the S7 would be perfect. and if it has a DSG i will be truly excited and impressed. but i expect an 8 speed auto instead. i honestly don't think they'll make an RS7. and if they do it'll be a HO version of the same engine--- maybe in the 500 hp range.

will be a positive surprise if s1 gets Quattro, will be unique (the cars in the same segment has no 4wd)

No quattro for S1, guys... It is just a small hatchback with not enough power to overcome AWD weight and gain performance advantage in that respect! it's been confirmed long time..
Also, the S7(also new S6) gets ''only'' 408ps 4.0 tfsi (confirmed by Audtoblog.nl) and future, MY2012, S8 - same engine but with 500ps! It may seem less than the current v10 S6 but just remind urself how B8 S4 beats in every aspect the old but, only in paper, more powerful B7 S4...
best,
d

So, great... Audi want make RWD, real sports car, but it will be releasing ''S'' car (S1) without ''quattro'' and their will be puting that 4.0 T in EVERY ''sport'' and non sport car in the next three years...!!!

S6, RS 6, S7, RS 7, S8, R8 ... They all will be powered with same engine... That is so ''unique''!

If the S7 is a 408 ps car what reason would there be for the much rumored 395ps 4.0 TFSI A7 ? I'm pretty convinced the S7 will have at least 450ps.

upper level A cars (such as the B7 A4 3.2 and C6 A6 4.2) will no longer be carried. instead, such cars will labeled S cars. what we current see as the base A cars, at least here in the US, will actually become the upper level A versions, since the 4 cylinder engines are being added. i wouldn't be surprised if the C7 A6 in the US is offered with a 4 cyl turbo and the 3.0T only, and the 4.0T is the S6. we've known for a while that audi hs decided to pit the S cars against the 335i and E350's of the world and the RS cars vs the AMG and M models.

if the S6/7 makes only "408" hp it'll really make more like 420, and the torque will be crazy. it'll clean house with the current S6. if it has DSG then watch out.

the new V8 will come in two varieties, at first- regular and HO- 400 hp and 500 hp.

For the S designation to make any kind of sense the S-Tronic/DSG is a must. So S7 400 ~ 400bhp and S8 ~500 bhp. On a second thought Audi doesn't have a S-Tronic/DSG box that can take more than 550nm ?

As far as torque goes it will compare positively against the S6/4.2 engines, much less impressive against the competition though: MB 4.6 V8TT 430bhp / 516ft-lb (700nm), BMW 4.4 V8TT 407bhp / 443ft-lb (600nm).

exactly. there won't be such thing as A7 4.0 tfsi... it will be named as a S7. final power figure has been updated from previous 395 to newly adopted 408ps, but the actual figure could be easily exceeding both, as already the case with 3.0 tfsi...
we will see soon what's the right number...

With the Paris Auto Show just a few weeks away, rumors have begun to swirl surrounding Audi’s planned showpieces. Alternating every other year with Frankfurt, these two auto shows are THE major European events opposite the calendar with Geneva. Thus far the only confirmed reveal from Ingolstadt is the Audi A7 and that car was already shown in person at and event in Munich last month. Given Audi is normally good for 1-3 model reveals and often a concept at a major auto show, it’s no surprise that theories on the concept (we’ve read R4 e-tron Roadster on one site) or production cars (we’ve read S1 on another site) are surfacing. We’ve begun pressing sources for some insight on what else might be see and we’ve received one answer we hadn’t heard before… the S7.

also the S1 is not comming - the official Paris Webpage corrected their new models - now it's just A7 Sportback, R8 GT and R8 V8 Spyder

Dear Friends,

in a last minute decision, the board decided to cancel the S1 to be revealed at Paris. Instead the A1 1.4 TSI 180 HP will be shown.

Good thing, the S1 will be re-engineered as the previous concept has been withdrawn.

It's become very confusing now... Firstly S7, then ''no S7''; S8 - who knows, but if we are to believe in that official announcement on the Paris Autoshow website - then NO! S1 - withdrawn! RS3 - no confirmation! Quattro Anniversario? Probably not, as it happens to be ''just'' e-tron spyder concept (who cares!!!)...
What promised to be very big show for Audi, is becoming very modest as it is at the moment!

Was the decision not already taken that the A1 wouldn't be offered with quattro? Maybe this decision only applied to the normal A1 and not the S1 and hopefully RS1. Though would awd really benefit such small cars in the same way as they do the bigger models? And another thing, what extra power would be need to counter the mechanical resistance and extra weight of have awd instead of just fwd?

the 1.8 was going to be the S1, but i think they decided to not call it that. i bet piech himself vetoed it at the last minute. at least someone has sense of continuity over there. S means sport. audi is quattro. think about it people.

24,250 euros for the A1 185hp model, are they serious? That is big big money for what is a very small car, it makes me question whether this leaves enough room for them to offer an S or RS variant.
