View Full Version : In the dark !!!! Modification of S4 V8

Anyone who has experience on modifications please help me
out here.

I am thinking of having my S4 modified once it has arrived.

Two Options :

Milltec UK claim a 420 Bhp with chiptuning, sportsexhaust
and catback system

B&B Germany who offer an upgrade in 5 stages to a max of 400 BHP ( last meaning an 8 day 2 technicians modification of the engine )

Milltec at £ 2750 for 420 Bhp and BB at Euro 6800 for stage 3
( 380 Bhp).

Milltec seems to have more perfomance for less money however
this seems to good to be true. Somehow BB looks more
realistic ( both pricewise and performance claimed )

Does anyone have experience with either of them ?????

Thanks

I would definately go for BB becuase im sure they know what they are doing. I would also recommend you to check out mtm and abt.

Of all these i really recommend mtm. Its a bit expensive but you wont be sorry you bought mtm.

Im sure many others would say mtm is best of all these.

Just concider it and have a talk with them=):s4addict:

Thanks , i just had a look at both sites of ABT and MTM
however the results are very disappointing.
ABT does not offer anything for the B6 S4 and MTM has
a very limited program for max speed limiter elimination
and some exhausts , brakes etc. No performance packages
available as yet. Or they have a problem updating their
website.

I,ll give them a call to find out what the options are.

Hey Roel,

Personally i have had really bad experience with abt here in Finland. Everybody here hates them. Also abt does NOT DO remapping but chipping of the car but mtm does remapping. You get a whole load of torque more torque and acceleration with mtm.

Just got of the phone with MTM , they will not offer
a performance package for the S4 V8. They claimed that
the setting of the car is already so good that is does not require
optimizing. Also they believe that the gain will be minimal
compared to a turbo diesel or a car with compressor.
They are studying on a compressor for this car which would
result in a 100 + BHP gain but that will take at least another year.

So guess that leaves me with the option of upgrading to 385 Bhp
with the phase 3 package from BB Germany. My impression after
speaking to them is that they are a very professional and trustworthy company.

Will let you know how the result is oke ?

Hey Roel,

Comming Saturday I had a test drive planned with Pon in Leusden. They called it off. They wrecked the demo S4 !

I'm seriously thinking of buying an S4, and tune it. So I be happy to hear about your experiences. b.t.w. we both live in Rotterdam.

Could you make a propper deal with the Audi dealer on the price?

Hello Ed,

Glad i did not wreck their demo. I thought though they
had several because i was in their garage and there
was a blue avant on licence plate + one which i can,t
rember which colour. Maybe they sold them in the meantime.
I will let you know oke ?

If you want i can give your the details of the dealer
i spoke to . Made a very good deal, however
is not in the rotterdam area but sells many car here.

If you want send me a personal mail on roel@arcus.nl

I have validated the results on the Milltek setup. We ran independant dyno pulls at SpeedSport Technik in Norwalk, CT USA. 20 lb-ft and 15hp at the wheels with the catback. ANOTHER 20 lb-ft and 15hp with the downpipes/cats. That's TWO dynos with similar results now. It's my daily driver and it's...FAST. -Pete, Stratmosphere

arthur , here is the adres from b and b , if you need more info
you can call them . They are very willing to give you all the details.

As to the milltek catback and exhaust i guess that 30 hp
increase is more realistic than what they where claiming
ie 420 HP . they even sent me a dyno for that .
Other tuners i consulted told me that is absolutely impossible.
Promising a gain of 80 Bhp on a non turbocharges engine
with only chipping , a catback and sportsexhaust its like
telling you can fly a boeing 747 to the moon !!!

I am not an expert but it seems to make more sense what b and
b is doing. To get a gain from 382 bhp (stage 3 increase from 344 bhp with exhaust , chipping) to 400 Bhp they need 8 days
of work on the engine with two technicians. It seems unlikely
to me that milltek and amd can do it with just a catback , exhaust and remapping.

****** who can you believe if ?? ******

new to the forum, but AMD kit will reach 400HP. There is one in Lister Audi. Actually they said the most they got was 415hp. But mostly they reach around 400hp. If you need any additional information email me cyuen@audisport.co.nz

I'm going to Essen in about a month. I hope to bring you back some news.

I will be visiting AMD in early December, will also try to get a drive in the stage 3 S4.

Is there an AMD in Essen Erik ??
I am planning for a stage 3 upgrade
at BB Siegen to 382 Bhp. It costs Euro 6850
vs 2750 Pound for the 415 from AMD . However
still have doubts that this is actually achievable.

Hi there,
I have talked to AMD, they said that B&B has under estimated the power of ECU tuning. I agree, reason being the 4.2 V8 is tuned to 380hp in the S8. It is exactly the same block. Hence if you mildly upgrade the ECU you will achieve the 380hp as the S8. Dyno has shown that Milltek exhaust releases a further 15 hp and the sport cat gets another 15.

AMD explained, the usual HP they see is 400hp+ the highest is 415hp. Actually if you are looking for a good deal on V8 upgrade or at least further info. email me cyuen@audisport.co.nz

Oh yeh by the way AMD Is located in Bicester Oxford. The kit is very easy to install. Basically, any local performance shop is capable as long as they have the chip removal machine and have the knowledge to dismantle and replace the stock exhaust system. My associate has visited AMD last week, his comments was "Very modern and veyr professional".

Hmm sounds good , do you know anything about the exhaust system ? I like the sound that the car has now and want to keep it decent. I am a little scared that the sound might be much louder with a sportexhaust. Do the endpipes actually change ??
At BB you get oval endpipes. Don,t know if i like that , i actually
like the ones i have now.

I send you an email with some additional questions oke ??:bye:

but its not that much louder. Great for us who likes to travel in comfort but with added performance (proven of course)
