Help!! Finally started dismantling the beast, noticed some oil or grease splatter on the heat shield above the drive shaft connection to rear diff. No signs of grease or oil on the shaft or connector/bolts (I sprayed the oil you see at the bolts to prep for removal). Any ideas what or where this could've come from?
NOTE: grease "looks" old.

I would imagine the grease splattering is just a little bit seeping from the rear joint due to centrifugal force of the driveshaft spinning. You may want to unbolt the joint and clean it a bit and repack it with fresh grease. I can't remember if the joint uses a gasket or not. I'll check ETKA later in the morning, it may just be slightly loose.

Thanks MGH, I'm taking her apart to pull the trans so I'll check the joint in the process.
