Taking an intake manifold out of my car...

I had to take the whole friggin thing apart practically to get to it, and there is so little room every other min I was thinking no way.

Removed wheel lines to get to the bumper, removed the bumper to remove the front carrier, removed the front carrier to remove the bi pipe, removed the intake box to remove the fuel rail, removed a ton of hoses, wires and other crap to finally remove the intake manifold.

Good news is not only did I find the vac leak ( which is why I did all of this) but I also found my coolant leak! Bad coolant pump. At least it was productive. I just wish it would put itself together now...

I understand your pain, although mine was economic not physical. Had a leaking secondary air pump causing high idle. Conveniently located under the intake manifold: Car goes into service position, seemingly dismantled, part replaced and then the reverse. $49 part, $1400 labor; Priceless... Love this car!

WOW....I just did my spark plugs and that was a pain (because of the close space and the drivers side MAF sensor connection wire)!

I cannot imagine doing what you did!!

Where was the Leak? (I have a small leak on Bank 2 now LOL)

Same part is what went bad on mine. They revised it, it seems. Funny thing is I've had the same part go out on another audi and a vw...

I am selling it, but i wont sell it in non working order, hence the work. I'm trying to buy a new house, if i can sell it, it would be a nice addition to the down payment.

Could be your MAF not seated properly. I had this after changing my MAFs recently despite having removed and replaced them successfully many times before.

In this economic climate. I dont know if its a good idea to pile money in a downpayment. You could be throwing money in a black hole. Not that owning a RS6 is another form of money pit but you do get enjoyment from driving it. I dont know the specifics of the house (bottom dollar foreclosure or high end ranch) but the entire sector is sitting on the edge of a cliff right now. I just hope your buying at rock bottom prices.

Good luck with it and I hope you keep the car.

Hmmm, tell me more please. I don't want to sell my car either, just figured it would be the responsible thing to do.

Yes, for you and many others it does seem like the "responsible" thing to do. We take pride in ownership of our assets. That said, think about the "what if" and do you want all your capitol tied up in a house? What if the housing market crashes again and you cant sell the house? What good is the capitol? What if you need to relocate and you cant sell your house? What good is capitol in the house.

What about all the deadbeat borrowers that dont have any capitol invested in these houses. What happens when they all stop paying their mortgages again? Does the housing market crash again?

What if is a lesson in life. If I were buying another house in this climate.....I would only put down enough to make the banker happy. 5% or less and get the FHA help before Fannie, Freddie and the FHA go belly up and the Fed stops buying mortgages later this year.

Just .02c for ya. We have owned 100k houses up to million dollar pads in fancy areas. I would keep my money in bank today and keep my RS6.

OK! Sorry guys if you were wondering what has happened. I have been away for a while on leave, got married and stuff. So back to the original prob and am tired or chasing down all the maintenence issue. Now they are all taken care of. Still have the missfires and vacuum issue but am down to one final code "P1479 Brake boost vacuum system mechanical failure implausable signal-intermittent." So I spoke directly to RS tech and friend and although the code calls out for the brake booster, 9 times out of 10 its a vacuum line coming off the pump and is a pain to fix but a lot cheaper. We will investigate this week some time and I will keep you all updated. Keeping my fingers crossed.....
