Price, well that is the issue. What is a fair price based on depreciation/ use? What will the market bring? What is the price of a new one with the bells and whistles? $1500, $1300, $1100, are these competitive price points or are they lofty? $1000, $900, $750, are these the right price points or are they way to generous? Maybe we should have an Auction here on this thread.

There isn't much depreciation. I sold my first one for $1500 including the XM module. I bought mine that i have now used from another owner for $1300 w the XM. Your BT if OEM holds value well. I would be interested in that too if it is the version done through the On-star.

What I know about the receiver is that it has BT and it does work through the On-Star, and the Dice Ipod module. I dont think it has a Sat module. If it does I have not seen it. I think $1300 shipped is a fair price.

Try to get more info on the BT. How does it work? thru car speakers and the deck? Check your rear compartment of the car. That is where the sat module is located.

The Bluetooth module goes under the passenger well floorboard and has a small antenna hooked to it so be careful as the antenna is fragile. The Satellite module is located in the left trunk compartment, kind of buried back there but visible. The RNS-E headunit is capable of Satellite & Bluetooth but you still need these separate modules for the systems to work otherwise you just have the Nav & stereo (FM, AM, MP3 (SD Cards)). A great system with or without the Bluetooth and Satellite, but even better with, especially the BT in my mind (small as it is).

The BT is integrated through the On Star. I have the Instructions showing how to uninstall the On Star module and back-up battery and how to replace it with the RNS-E BT module. Yes there is a XM Sat module as well.

Well the radio new is 1400 so used it should be $700-$800. The modules used should be $400-$500 so $1300 is a good selling price for everything.

I think that is low. $1200 alone for the RNSE you can and will get that easily...the vagnav ones are ALL used euro units. The XM if the correct module for the RNSE new is $400 so $150 minimum there (was what i last paid). The BT is/was $500- $600 new.

Also, your XM module might be the stock one. The only way to tell if it will work with the RNS-E (besides turning it on and seeing if it works) is checking the part number. I believe you need the unit with an "E" at the end of the part number.

No point in selling the XM module if it doesn't work with the unit. :)

I am confident it is aftermarket. It was put in with two sided 3M tape and from the instructions I have seen the OE module is small and black. I will check the number anyway.

Take some clean pix and put 'er on eBay, Willie!

I would have been all over this a month ago... but I'm going aftermarket, so much easier to get the capabilities I really want. Debating pioneer, alpine, or kenwood, thinking about molding a faceplate to get a more OEM look... I guess I'm an OEM+ kind of guy.

I wish there was a way to get the 2010 Audi nav+ in a C5... doesn't look too doable, though.

Kenwood for me. I had the Pioneer DEH-700BT in my VW and I thought it was good until I went to the Kenwood Excelon X994 and found out what good really is. Once you tune them both to your own liking the Kenwood walks away from the Pioneer for the same price. I had to raise the volume to 38 to get the same response the Kenwood gives at 20.

For starters I only need the head unit for BT, Sat Connection, and Ipod connections, it has auto update for Nav and Navteq. The freq response is better, more options for tuning the system, more RCA outputs, AV outputs and so on.

I know you can have Sirius Sat as an option (check features on the link), and it should work through the OE antenna. It may take an adapter but it should be able to work with it. I am not using Sat Radio so I have not asked about what equipment or adapters are needed. I would ensure the unit did what I wanted before I bought it. We can ask the member who put the Alpine in his car for input.

I asked Mudguts here.

So, has anyone successfully installed an RNS-E system AND a steering wheel with controls in a C5 A6/S6/RS6?

I finally got my RNS-E system installed in my '03 RS6 and it's talking to the Sirius Sat system, my blue tooth setup and the nav system works too. Now, because my R8's spoiled me with on the wheel controls, I'm wanting to change out the stock wheel in my RS6 to one that will allow me the freedom to control via the wheel.

Anyone have a clue on what to do and where to look?

I've heard on RS246.com of someone installing the Multi-function steering wheel on the RS6 of the same year RS6 but they don't have the paddles so you would loose that. The later MFS with paddle won't work because the airbags are a different generation.
