Hello

I was after some advice on whether anyone knows of or has tried:
Uprated (harder) pads for the standard brakes. I want these to survive track use longer but don't want to change the standard brakes straight away. At the moment I can't find anyone who makes alternative pads for the car. I'm also swapping the fluid over to Castrol SRF (does anyone know the capacity of the standard brake system?).
Track oriented tyres for the European 19inch wheels. I currently have Continentals, but wondered if anyone had tried something like Pilot Cups or P Zero Corsa's in standard sizes on the 19inch wheels.
Thanks for your help.

I don't know the capacity of the brake system, but perhaps I can find out in a file I have. Unfortunately my home computer is under upgrade so I can't access the file until next week.
Or you could call your dealer, they should know.

Regarding 19" track oriented wheels...
All I have for you at the moment is in swedish  BUT I think the graphs and the links may help you even though you can't understand anything of the text. (some links go to international places.)
Or perhaps an internet translator could help you?

Good luck! And let us know how it goes. I wouldn't mind a video if you care to record it. :race:

thanks for the help, and the links to the other post. Car has had first trackday and did really well. Will try to video next time.
Brake fluid should make a big difference, but at the moment I can't find anyone who makes harder pads for the standard calipers (and I don't want to upgrade the entire braking system yet).

The Champion RS 6's used the stock front brakes in their first couple of races. They used race pads from Pagid. I saw a guy with a Pagid shirt at the Laguna Seca races and he knew they made some pad backing plates for the RS 6 and supplied them race compound pads, but did not know if they have any intention of making steet pads for the RS 6?
I will contact them and see what they plan to have available.

Hello Jim

Thanks for the help, Pagid pads would be ideal (having used them in the past). Even race pads would be useful for track stuff (I could get the pads swapped over to drive home).
I'm very interested to hear what you find out.

regards
Bob

Hi!

Anyone can share experience on how frequently you change pads with average mood of driving (mostly city)?

The same for rubber please.

I received a reply from Pagid and have sent them another e-mail with questions about race pad availability and US price. Its interesting to note that Audi's original RS 6 pads were Jurid, and at some point, they switched to Pagid pads. I'm assuming all of us in the US have Pagid OE pads.

Following is the reply from Pagid race support in Florida:
When Audi first introduced the RS6 they used a Jurid brake pad that just did not meet the high requirements. Since we have been working with Audi in the racing business for many many years they approached us to make a better pad. We kind of "tamed" a race pad. As far as performance is concerned the pads worked perfect but it was a nightmare to get them quiet. However we made it and have met eventually all of Audi's high standards.

What I want to say is that the Audi OE pad is already a really good high
performance pad and it does not make sense to make a hp aftermarket pad.

Racing is, as always, a different story.

When Champion Audi started the SCCA Speed GT 2003 race season with the Audi RS 6, Pagid has supplied racing brake pads in the RS14 racing compound (Pagid part # for this pad is U2931).

When I receive their response about price and availability, I will post it. For eurpean owners, I would suggest you check: http://www.pagid.de/index.html
