I am sure that this is a scam:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=275200062&dealer_id=65046371&car_year=2003&rdm=1266599932784&lastStartYear=1981&num_records=25&model=RS6&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=2000&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&sownerid=100027416&make=AUDI&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=1&drive=&default_sort=&seller_type=b&position=top&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=mileageASC&address=19129&advanced=&end_year=2005&transmission=&doors=&max_price=150000&cardist=172&standard=false

Especially by the response I got:

he car is still for sale. The asking price is $23,400. It is located in Mohall, ND but the car is registered in my hometown Albany, NY and the VIN is WUAPV54BX3N904991 .The car is registered on my name and the title is clear (no lien). It is in great condition, no dents or scratches. It was always garaged and the regular maintenance was done in time. It wasn't involved in any accident and has never suffered any kind of damage. Also this is a non-smoker car. If you have any questions regarding the car or you want extra photos or the CARFAX report (for free) just let me know!
I work as a natural resources developer for an oil company which has recently engaged in a leasehold of 800 gross acres near Mohall,ND and I will stay here for the next 5-6 months to arrange all the details for the company. My wife broke up with me recently because I'm always away from home. We just sold our house and split the money.
This is the last thing I need to sell and split the money with her.Because I'm away most of the time I will not be able to deal in person. But I've already arranged the shipping and the title transfer anywhere in the US. I will pay the shipping fees.
I want the payment to be handled by MSN Money Central. They will keep the money until you will receive and inspect the car. You will have 10 days of inspection period.
If the car is not like described you will have to ship it back on my expense and they will give you a full refund. This way, you will be able to inspect the vehicle
before committing to buy it and I know that you have the money and you aren't just fooling around.
Giving the nature of this transaction please note that my sale terms are final and nonnegotiable. In order to move forward I will need your full name, address and phone number.
I don't want to offend you, but the car is priced for a fast sale so please if you intend to apply for a loan or financing do not reply to this message!

But are any of the 3 for sale. I know one is in Texas (not for sale) where are the others?

Those photos are very familiar. I bet one of our current members can look in their purchase notes and see the same ones.

It's not on the VIN list. Carfax does seem to show it as an RS6.

....OK, any ad that has a story built in should be a THE biggest clue.

ROFLMAO... Those pix's are from the ad when I purchased the car last year. VIN is NOT from my car either... I sent the seller a reply anyways, told the seller I had cash and would be in town Monday, would he meet and do a cash deal?

I also added that there are only 3 known Yellow Rs6's in the United States ( Hint Hint , pick another color next time )

You could compare this with DHALL's Dyno run to get a good idea of the difference:

If he needs a quick sale then find a dealer or carmax, etc. Why go through the hassle and expense of shipping and inspections - complete BS.

Such an obvious scam. Any time somebody explains too much, they are lying. Goes back a couple few hundred years to Will Shakespeare: "Methinks thou dost protesteth too much."

Puh-lease. Autotrader should really expunge this kind of crap before it hits the interwebs.

I think this is the same dude that had an '07 A4 with like 16k miles on it in Montanna for 5K advertised here in Minneapolis Craigslist. Funny thing when I got his reply e-mail I did a web search on his sender address and red flags popped up all over the place.
