r-tronic
standard brakes

For comparison

lp560-4 test by Auto
0-100 3,57
0-1000mt 20,58 (exit speed 260,9)

in the article they wrote that there was the doubt the power-difference r8 vs lp560 is less than "on paper"

stunning chassis
more comfort than lp560
fab elasticity times
better fuel consumption than r8 v8 in city and 120km/h

track-time problem...wet track..they will test again in Spring

Excellent test results.

Prove that R8 V10 is still awsome sportscar despite new competitors like 997.2 Turbo. At least IMHO...

why even do the test if the track is not dry like the others?

Is it faster than 997.2 Turbo?

Is it faster than 997.2 Turbo?

Where?

Straight line acceleration? No.

BUT... Look at this results...

Hockenheim Klein Kurs by Sport Auto

R8 V10 manual 1.11,9min(Pirelli P Zero R01)
997.2 Turbo PDK(SC+, PTV) 1.11,9min(Bridgestone RE050 N1)

So, 997.2 Turbo is not any faster on short track like Hockenheim despite all the lastest gimmicks.

On the Ring 997.2 Turbo PDK will be marginally faster due to higher top speed on long Doettinger Hoehe straight.

If you ask me which car I prefer then the answer is both! If you need DCT sytle gearbox then your choice is 997.2 Turbo PDK, on the other hand if you like to drive manual then R8 V10 is great choice. Best option if you are fluent enough is to have both...

0 to 160 km/h in 7.6??? that's by far the fastest figure from R8 V10... not wonder they are questioning if the v10 is detuned at all!!!

R8 V10 is very competent
with manual it s really nice ride

KresoF1, tough choice really

what is so funny is that is seems that the manual turbo would be slower and not not nearly as much fun as the manual R8. conversely, if the R8 had DSG it'd wipe the floor with the turbo.

You are assuming that gearbox is actually most important item on sportscar.

It is NOT.

997.2 Turbo is simply much better sportscar then 997.1 Turbo.

Just a hint for you-even Ferrari 458 Italia is NOT any faster in 120km/h-240km/h then 997.2 Turbo PDK.

Normal version, not Turbo S...

R8 V10 can not wipe the floor with 997.2 Turbo. Maybe next generation of R8...

Kreso- everywhere everywhere everywhere it is the PDK PDK PDK. these hipo cars- esp the high torque FI cars get sign accel gains with DSG. power and torque wise the 997.1 to 997.2 change alone is not enormously significant- wonder why it matches the italia in that very specific accel time? you know the answer.

read better- i can assure you an R8 with DSG would be much faster in all tests.

I just "ran some numbers," highly mathematical stuff, but the bottom line is that compared to the R8 4.2, you're paying an extra 28.1% USD for a laptime that's merely .93% faster with the R8 5.2...sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever do this.

Tomorrow, I'll be saying the opposite. Food for thought...

(No, that's not a statistically flawless comparison...)

i get 13% more. you have to compare equivalently loaded V8 to V10. the V10 comes almost fully loaded standard. and most V8 buyers get the same options on their V8's anyway.

13% is not that bad. and almost makes the V8 redundant.
